Poets @ P-P:   PP by 7 28-21

Chapman @ Redlands:  Despite being at home UR doesn't get it together:

Chapman by 4  21-17.  More problems for UR.

CMS @ Oxy.  Oxy defense controls, Collins rolls.  49-14  Oxy.  Could be a shut out by Oxy but defense gets a rest in 4th Qtr.

Wildcard pick.   If I were to pick an upset it would be LaVerne @ Cal Lu.  If Cal Lu starts slow again LaVerne could leave with a big close win  21-20

Games to watch for West playoff implications.  Whitworth hosts APU.  If Whitworth does well watch for a barn burner when they and Linfield get together.  Linfield should dominate Willamette.  If they don't, they finish with a winning season but ??

I think that the bye week is just what was needed by the dawgs to get their act act together on offense. Coach Maynard wont let his team go to 0-3 with Oxy next.  Look for good things from the dawgs.  My guess is they will try to puond the ball against Chapman and let the passing game pick(no pun intended) its spots and become more comfortable. 

I would like to see the Foreman kid get some more time and carries.  I think he is the run game future for the dawgs.

Ok dawg fans........lets hear your predictions for the game this Saturday.......I say dawgs by 10.  I think the defense will be solid and the offense will start to come together....look for some changes.

I think LV is going to give CLU  a very tough game and may pull out an upset.

Why is everyone so confident that the hens will beat the poets on saturday. This is a match that will pit 2 school's who just lost their H.C. and are looking to run better systems. In this case though, the poets come out with jabs and punches that will stall a young hen team. Not only that, I feel that by the end of the game the mighty poets in purple and yellow will win this game to not be placed last in the SCIAC this year.

I would have a hard time telling anyone that I root for the Poets......sorry, just dont understand why they dont change mascots......those purple headed warriors just dont bring the fear to their opponnents......but....good luck to those punishing purple poets this week.

I would think its time to change that as well. What's funny though is that for the past 3 years, the local Radiostation KROQ has made a topic about local and nation wide school mascots. In doing so, they weeded out the worst yet funniest mascot a school could have. GUESS who made it to the top for the past 3 years...........

The sagehens also got a top 10 vote as well.

Glad to see people giving Whittier some credit. Poets by + 8.5; Sagehens fail to win a game in the SCIAC.

Can't see LaVerne beating CalLu or coming any closer than 10 at the least.  Everyone seems to think that since Cal Lu has been starting off slowly that this will give LaVerne a chance. If WE know that Cal Lu needs to start off faster, then I am sure THEY know they need to start their games with more rhythm and with a sense of urgency. Not to knock LaVerne, they play hard, not always smart, but at least hard. However, they tend to infight when the game is going against them. Cal Lu exploits this and the game is never in question.

No comments about my own game of interest, I'll prefer to remain optimistic. There's almost always a chance. A good game and a strong game by an improved Stag (note there is only one g, not two g's like the Stagg Bowl) team.

Redlands recovers against Chapman. Close game, but a victory non-the-less.


T.O. thoughts for the day. Not a suicide attempt. IF he was going to do it. Trust me, he'd hold a press conference, do some situps and then do it live on national TV. However, he might spin this whole thing into another media circus. My suspicion- think about it from a medical standpoint- his medicine intereacted with his "organic, all natural nutritional supplements." Does this not strike anyone else as suspicious? Going out on a limb- performance enhancing "organic, all natural nutritional supplements". Any sports reporter would know that performance enhancing drugs can have negative side efffects when combined with medication. Just like how one cannot combine steroids with alcohol. How else does one get to be a 6-3 225 lb WR with 3% or less body fat?
Just speculation. However a coachshould use this opportunity to speak with players regarding drug use even at the D3 level. Performance enhancing drugs are used at this level and we shouldn't turn a blind eye to it.

Yes, and I think painkillers can be mishandled at any level.

Yes painkillers are used improperly at every level. However this misses the point of the final line of my previous post- performance enhancing drugs are found in DIII from the top down. As for other use of substances, drug test and breathalize any team in any conference in DIII or in other divisions as well at noon on a Sunday and you'd have alot of suspensions. What I think is a shame is that DIII tests only come championship time.
