Thank-you. That has to make you feel a little better.

Same lead for LINFIELD at PLU.

Oxy is up 31-7 over the Sagehens with 6 minutes + left in the 3rd quarter per my friend at the game via cell phone report.

Final score:  Oxy 38 Pomona 23.  Per my onsite reporter, Oxy was up 38-7, then put in the second teams on O and D.  Second team O turned the ball over a couple of times, and the 'Hens got a couple quick scores.  First team D went back in for the Tigers and held.  Sounds like the 2nd Team Tiger O wasn't in synch today.

congrats to the 'Cats on the monkeystomp of the Loggers.  Looking forward to that 'Cat/'Rat matchup.

Going to need those 2nd's if you make it in the playoffs.
Thanks for the score.
How about this one, (PLU just ran their #1 receiver on the post against the LINFIELD reserves to make it 44-14 late in 4th) the LINFIELD field goal kicker has his first game and sets a school record 5 goals in one game.

Amen bruddah and that's good news for the kicker . . . if all goes well for both our squads, maybe we get to host da 'Cats in round 2?  A man can dream . . .  ;D

Sure....how about a night game while you wear black and water down the west end of the bleachers about sunset.

Just got back from the rock. And yet heading back for fish tacos and free beer for young alumni.
Awesome job by the tigers against the Chick-hens of pomona. Like tooth mentioned, this game was over by the 3rd quarter. By the time the hens were adding points, most of the 2nd unit was in playing.

Whats the word across the sciac, i heard the pups won. Good job to them.

Big game next week. I hope the tigers learn from this and get ready for a good "Who" team.

Tooth,
The 1955 championship team says they wish you could have attended the reunion. From what i understand they want to meet up to exchange a of couple metamusel and milk of magnisa tablets for recurring pain and some new age O2 tanks..(Just kidding man). I am sure that i also saw O-bob hanging with this wild group as well. (j/k)

La Verne's passing attack awoke in a 27-14  win over the poets.... Doolittle threw for 325 yards and 4 td's. Handy had 64 yards on the ground. Hopefully we'll see a good match-up against the dogs......

Congrats to Cal Lu on beating chapman. And Great job to the Leo's on beating whitter. ;D

This win for the Who will surely set up more confidence for a team that is riding with just 1 lost. I am sure that they will be fired up to take on the tigers this next saturday.

What must Oxy do for this up coming week?
The tigers should study a lot of film on the who to see if they can spot any mistakes, starting today.  In addition, they should practice like if the game were to be a playoff game.(i.e. a lot of intensity, urgency and a lot more focus.) Finally, they should expect to get better. The tigers have a huge target on their backs that many are shoot down. This game is a must win in order to solidify a 3 peat as SCIAC champs.

So where are all of the Redlands fans?  I'm waiting for the game synopsis!

EastCoastStag

Well, not the outcome I was predicting. However, close well fought game.

Close, is still not a win. Bad taste, bad feeling, bad emotions.
Will not blame the loss on poor calls by the officials. CMS caused enough turnovers to create opportunities for themselves. CMS D played outstanding. Still have trouble with simple plays such as dive and counter. Regardless, the defense kept the Stags in the game and gave them hope enough to win. Offense? You can't win a game getting outgained by more than 2-1 in yardage. There were mistakes on offense, lack of execution, so on and so forth. Redlands D played well.
Where I take fault- the game plan-damnit every single team now knows what is coming. Some plays work well when you have Pat White and Steve Slaton on your team. Seeing how there are no Pat White's and Steve Slaton's (Pierre Garcon is close) in D3 football, it's time to show some creativity on offense. Missing the starting QB was huge for CMS. Without the main playmaker, the one who creates all the option possibilities, the sparks were far less. Not to take anything away from the players.. they battled their asses off. However, there was a severe lack of offensive creativity in calling plays; the offense was NOT tailored to the personel on the field; and in the 2nd half- there was little urgency in play calling. Was there more executionwise the players could have done? Maybe. But you cannot fault one for that. Could there have been better preparation done by those reponsible for the gameplan? Probably.

This is where I take fault with a certain practice- the taking of Sunday and Monday of fall break off. While this is just one day, it creates a discontinuity, whether the players realize it or not. Football is about patterns, preparation, and routines. When you break the routine, you break focus. Even if the player does not realize it. IF a program wishes to take time off around fall break, schedule the byeweek for that weekend, or have the byeweek the following week, so the team can have a scaled back week of practice- taking sun-tues off then coming back for an intense but short week focused on the basics. I do not care what level a team is- D1 or D3, when the season is in play you have two priorities- academics and football. Vacation is something you sacrifice if need be. As far as I am concerned, that extra day off did not benefit CMS whatsoever. That practice, unless there is a byeweek involved should never be used ever again if CMS wants to win a SCIAC title. Period.

All this being said? This week is a crossroads- Funny, Whittier as a crossroads game? Yes. They are not a terrible program and almost came back to beat CMS in 2005 (again, a lack of offensive creativity being the problem). As I have said many times, this is a young team trying to find their identity- they have it in part-battlers. What they need to establish is one as finishers. This is where it starts. They absolutely MUST win out to prove the CLU game was not a freak accident. No matter if they outplayed them, a 3-6 finish would be a travesty. There is no other option other than a 6-3/4-2 record to end the year. IF they do that, that will go a long way as to defining the team for next year and the years after.
