Huge front page article on Andy Collins on the sports page of the Los Angeles Daily News today (complete with color photos).  There is also a nice article about CLU's Danny Jones on page 5.  I know most of you read the Times and might not see the articles, but I am a Daily News reader and thought you might be interested.

Nice article on Collins. I agree that he can play at the next level. The CFL or AFL would be the best starting point for him. The NFL is just another animal when it comes to talent level. I hope he gets a shot and does well.

If not, i am sure Tooth and DGI can help guide him into some Avenue of their daily work.  ;D

Well boys and girls, no game for me this weekend.  I just cant get out of my prior plans and it is going to be tough to know whats going on. >:(
Best of luck to both teams and I hope Cal Lu pulls it out.

dawg gone it

Andy Collins made a great choice...has had a great career and I hope he attains his dream of playing at the next level, any one of them....

It was a very nice article but the Oxy coaches quote seemed like something that I heard before.......

"I and most coaches in the conference might agree that he's a player that has caused the most impact. You take him off our team and we're a good team. You take him to another team, the sky is the limit."

Seems like we had this discussion on the board before.... ;)

And ....all those Bulldogs who participated in the Louisiana trip should be given mucho credit for their efforts and contirbuitions........

I was at a doctors deposition this morning in the Eagle Rock area and decided to take a quick ride thru the Oxy campus.....its has charm, is a beautiful setting, a bit hilly, I saw the lights everyone has been talking about....... nice campus.  I did notice one thing...........I saw a very strange sign at the main gate....it said.....if you are not a liberal now...you will be when we get through with you!   :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D       ;)

And finally.....Tooth would love to employ Andy Collins....hell, after all....... he is Bob's son ;)

All this discussion of politics!
Makes me think (and feel) like I am right back at a CMC party. Where's the keg?

Ok.. so CMS beats Whittier.. WHO CARES? I'll enjoy the win. Although, I have my fingers crossed that we run more than three plays (ie plays in terms of play types not actual number of plays) in the 2nd half.

Predictions for the other games later... ie when I have time?? What is time?

As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what the time was that was
on my watch, yeah
And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
about time, if so I can't imagine why
Oh no, no, we've all got time enough to cry

And I was walking down the street one day
A pretty lady looked at me and said her diamond watch had
stopped cold dead
And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
about time,
If so I can't imagine why
oh no, no
We've all got time enough to cry

And I was walking down the street one day
Being pushed and shoved by people trying to beat the clock,
oh, so I just don't know, I just don't know
And I said, yes I said

Dawgs, let me add to Dale's comments if I may since you didnt have the opportunity to see the Oxy teams of '04 and '05 and have only seen one game in '06,

While Collins is undoubtedly the best QB in the SCIAC, dont forget that Oxy has definitley had the best TEAM in the in SCIAC the last 3 years. We have had the best RB duo, the best O-line, the best WR's and many of the best defensive players in the past couple of seasons to complement him. The thing that is special about Oxy football, is the atmosphere that the team has created.  I have never been on a team in which every guy from the 3rd string punter to the starters all buy into a system, all for a common goal.  Thats the reason Oxy has been successful.  There are many teams who have great players, who dont win because they are "I guys," going out there to get theirs.  Looking back on it, in '02 our Sr. leadership wasnt there, many of the freshman that year didnt really hang out with the guys on the team and were excluded, the result being, we went 5-4 and tied for like last in the SCIAC. Haha can you believe that year, we were undefeated going into the Redlands game and we had guys on that team that didnt even show up for the bus to go to the game because they knew they werent going to play very much and thought they had better things to do.  ??? Unreal, the team has come a long way in 4 years, and the success will continue this Saturday at the Who! Go Tigers!!!!!!

Go Oxy

EODT:  I can tell you that the college leadership recognizes and appreciates the truly amazing group of guys that comprise the team.  I have never seen team so cohesive and represent the school so well, both on and off the field.  I hope that this atmosphere continues and becomes a permantent characteristic of the Oxy football tradition.

Eye,

That is so true. But just to let you know and remind you. There was not a lot of Seniors at All that year in 02. I know that the Juniors could have done more. maybe? However, we did our best in 03 to be better than 5-4. And through it all, in 03 i saw seniors who, for sure, did not want to repeat that same mistake.

And you are right about the certain kids that should have been kept in line on not wanting to show up to a game

Browneagle,

I know '03 was a rough one, like I have said before those two losses and that season came down to two plays.  Against Pomona I think we were up a TD in the 2nd or 3rd quarter and we were on their 30 yard line with a 3rd and 1.  We brought goal line in, missed a key block and they stuffed us.  We then missed the FG and all of the momentum switched to them.  We never recovered.  Then against Redlands we were winning like 14-8 or something in the 3rd quarter on the 1 yard line and going into score again and we fumbled and they recovered it.  "If" those two plays went our way, we "coulda" been 9-0 and we would be looking at a 4-peat this weekend.  Haha good teams dont leave it up to "ifs" and "coulda's" though, it was a great lesson learned.  No one likes coming in second, after all second place is the first loser isnt it!  ;D

I know a great orthopedic surgeon for you Oxy guys.........for the injuries sustained from continually patting yourselves on the back...... ;) :D :D :D :D

I just thought it was kind of ironic that ...your own coach classified the Oxy team as  ....good ......without Collins, and if he was on another team ... "the skys the limit".   It is my opinion that next season, every game will be a.....dawg fight....dawg gone it! :D

Good luck to Oxy this week...it should be fun to watch two good qb's play each other.
