Rumor has it that the heckler in the CLU stands was planted there by Oxy to infuriate, motivate and get the Oxy players...UNtracked.......the heckler was seen handing out oranges in the Oxy locker room after the game.  He was aslo seen walking to the parking lot with an Oxy fan who appeared to be in his late 40's or early 50's weighing about 165 lbs and chanting the Oxy fight song.  Reportedly, the heckler had a few Benjamin's hanging out of his pants pocket.

The two were last seen were heading north on the 101 toward Oxnard with balck flags with orange O's in the middle attached to the rear windows.

What some guys wont do to win.......... ::)

Good article about one of CLU's receivers here.  I didnt know Jones AND all 4 receivers will be back next year.  I know everyone will say OXY will be the favorite (except DGI ;)) but I would have to say Cal Lu should be damn tough next year.

ECS- I agree with you.  Cal Lu lost and thats that.

TB:  I don't think that any SCIAC fans can be faulted for gnashing their teeth about the Kingsmen's loss to CMS. Indeed, coach Squires had this to say in the article that you linked above:

Getting over it: The football team institutes a 24-hour rule after losses, which is in place this week after falling to Occidental on Saturday. "You can grieve for 24 hours. After that, it's over with and you move on and don't deal with that game anymore," Squires said.

But Squires has made one exception to the rule this season. "The Claremont game is still going to bug me," he said of the 30-27 double-overtime loss on Oct. 14. "I can't do the 24-hour thing. It will probably be a 24-year deal."

Cal Lu is an excellent team, and while we all know that anyone can beat anyone on any given day, the CMS loss was so unexpected that it simply cries out for speculation and discussion to help develop understanding.  Just like the results of the Oxy/CLU game warranted the props and respect to all players and staff on both teams in an outstanding game that could easily have gone the other way.

Breaking news........it has been determined that the heckler was a 50 ish male, attorney like in appearance who, was on one hand trying to rile the Oxy players and at the same time......attmpting to quiet the wildly cheering CLU fans......observers say he was acting very odd....kind of like a .......mediator. ;) ;D

16.....GO DAWGS .......GO DEEP.........dawg gone it.

Tooth-  Very true.  I talked to someone this past saturday and they did tell me that many players were susp. for the CMS game (NOT MAKING EXCUSES HERE ;D) for going out during the week and making poor descisions.  That kind of stuff can't hapen if you want to knock off a 2 time defending champ.

dawg gone it

Is that a live bait cast or are you trolling with a lure?  :o Do you have a license to fish? ???

anyway...wishing(as opposed to...honking) is spelt a bit differently.  In case you didnt know....they also have different meanings. ::)

That reflects really well on the instiution and staff.  For coach Squires to make that call with a playoff bid in the balance shows a lot of character and, in my view, priorities properly placed (say that five times fast).  How bad must the kids that broke the rules feel?  Wow.

Kudos to Cal Lu and Coach Squires.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but ABC news is doing a story on Oxy tonight. It's suppose to air around 5:45. Not sure if they are going to play it again on the late night news.

Gotta love TV time for DIII sports!

Oxy deserves the tv time after what they have accomplished over the last few years.........hopefully, they wont be too impressed withthemselves to win on Saturday.

I hope they host round one so I can see them play again and collect all the bets I have won from tooth........ ;)

CRZK

There you go DGI, way to be a SCIAC team player!! :D

Well might as well get up for the weekend games!!

UR-Poets:  Poets in an upset,  naww, just seeing if anyone is awake.  Homefield advantage and the DAWGS have learned not to turnover the ball.  At least by 10 maybe 14.

Cal Lu-PP.  I think it depends if Cal Lu suffers a let down from their tough loss.  Hope they don't and they should roll and get ready for next year.  If they are ready to make a statement they win by 21.

CMS-LaVerne--who cares!! ;) just kidding ecs.  Actually CMS is having a good season.  Oxy needs them to win to continue to pad our QOWI.  CMS by 10

Oxy-Chapman.  Ought to be interesting with Chapman's QB back.  But the tigers are ready to go.  Oxy by 14.

Obviously the game of the week is Whitworth and Linfield.  As interesting as it would be to see Whitworth take the NWC I think the homefield advantage is too much.  On a neutral field or at Whitworth I think they could do it but not in Linfield.  I think a decent scoring game by both teams.  38-31 Linfield.  Should mean the rats come to SoCal.

CRZK....ON YOUR PREDICTIONS

CLU will not lose to PP no matter how down they are after last week.

Chapman isnt that good( I know, I know)......Oxy by at least 3 td's

CMS-LV....should be the best game, from a competitive standpoint in the SCIAC.

UR over Whit by at least 3 td's....call it honking or wishing, I dont care!

and....... Ohio St over anyone by ....many! ;)

GO DAWGS....GO DEEP .....dawg gone it.

Redlands is already working on their battle cry for next season:

Return To Dominance, Take 2
Return To Dominance, We Really Mean It This Time
Three Yards And A Crowd Nonplussed
Occidental:Culture, Redlands:Agriculture
Life's A Game Of Inches, And We Came Up Short Again

Hey Bob, you are spending so much energy trying to put down Redlands (is your "ex" a Redlands' alumni and you just can't strike out at her enough?), you missed posting a very nice article on your "Superhero", Andy Collins, from the SCIAC website. Bob, I am disappointed; you are getting your priorities all screwed up!

Here is the article...

Occidental: Andy Collins, Football
Occidental quarterback Andy Collins led a remarkable comeback in Saturday's 28-27 win over Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks. Down 21-0 late in the second quarter, Collins and the Tigers scored on three consecutive possessions, the last two coming on touchdown passes of 13 and four yards to Chris Washington. Collins rushed five times for 37 yards and completed four passes for 53 yards on the next drive to give Occidental the one-point lead. Collins completed 21 of 31 attempts for 236 yards in the game and rushed 27 times for 105 yards as Occidental clinched its third consecutive SCIAC title.

Predictions of no particular value other than keeping me away from work:

1.  Oxy Tigers over the Chapman Panthers by 21
2.  Cal Lu Kingsmen over PP Sagecocks (they'll always be the 'Hens to me) by 28
3.  Redlands Bulldogs over the mighty fighting quaker Poets of Whittier by 24
4.  Claremont Stags over La Verne Leopards by 17
5.  Cal Tech remains untied and undefeated
6.  Linfield Wildcats over the Whitworth Pirates by 14

GO OXY, EAT'EM UP TIGERS
GO 'CATS, KILL SOME 'RATS

Excellent point, thanks Frank!  My error of omission was not meant to cast any negative cloud over the unblemished record of the fighting Beavers of Caltech!
