A nice article on Brock Arndt, I think he will be a d3 All American before he graduates:

It was announced on Sunday that University of Redlands sophomore defensive-end Brock Arndt (Valencia, CA) earned Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division III West All-Region honors as part of the Second Team Defense.

Arndt lands on Hansen's West All-Region Team just weeks after earning a spot on the D3football.com All-West Region Third Team.  Earlier this season, he also gained his inaugural All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) award with First Team accolades.  During the 2006 season, Arndt tallied 18 tackles for a loss of 93 yards to lead the team, including five sacks for a loss of 33 yards.  He also came up with 29 solo and 13 assisted tackles for a total of 42, tying for fourth on the team.  Arndt also recorded three quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.

Those are impressive teams. I was unaware you could play 15 on a side in football. Five linemen, five linebackers and five DBs. What a joke. Of course, you need those to defend against his "all-region" offenses, which feature three running backs, a tight end and three receivers.

At least he wasn't honorable mention. That's the real travesty. How "honorable" is it if you're one of SEVEN quarterbacks on the honorable mention team?

dawg, you should be pissed your son isn't on this team. :)

WOW....you guys are cruel.  Give the kid some credit....and why would you bring my son into this conversation? ??? :(

Arndt had a heck of a year and will be one of the best next year.  I thought this board promoted the d3 philosophy of student athlete and gave credit to kids who play for the love of the game?  I dont know anything about Don Hansen, but I dont understand the negative comments directed at Arnt's recognition.

Don Hansen does a lot of dumb things. Perhaps he needs some more supervision.  Or he needs to watch more tv There is a lot of good advice in the old shows.

why knock Arnt by knocking Hanson

On the contrary -- why praise Hansen by mentioning Arnt?

Arndt had a great year and deserves any recognition he gets.....Hansen, I cant comment on....my post was to recognize Arnt....not praise Hasen.....why so critical?   I dont get it.

Arnt was on d3's third team all west team and 1st team all SCIAC.......is there that big a difference between Hansens opinion and d3's? I am not being critical, just asking your opinion.   Again, I dont know anything about Hansen or his publications....  however, I do interpret some hostility between d3 and him from the recent posts.  Want to fill me in? ???  And why the knock on my son?  I didnt mention him in any way shape or form.

Pat Coleman

I'm knocking Hansen for passing out meaningless awards. You should look at the awards for yourself before passing them off as legitimate. You could go talk about Hansen's awards on Hansen's site -- there just isn't anyone talking over there (eight posts in a month). That's for a reason. It's not a good source of information.

I brought your son into it to try to illustrate the ridiculousness of the awards in terms you might understand. How many quarterbacks are "honored" again?

I'm frustrated because his awards cheapen all Division III awards, including ours. Wouldn't you be frustrated if someone cheapened awards given out in your special niche of the world?

I guess this is like....pulling on Supermans cape...or....spitting into the wind,but.....my name isnt Leroy.  I give up. :)

I assume you are right...you are the infinite source of wisdom in d3....I mean that as a comliment.  I was just trying to give the kid some credit for a great year......Hansen's is just another award as far as I know.....

There is no question that d3 football is the best site around for all of d3 sports......there are other recognitions, even if not as meaningfull.

dawg gone it

Absolutley I would.  I wasnt aware of the rivalry or feud or what ever label you put on it.  I was just trying to give the kid some deserved credit.

Seems like no matter what....Im the bad guy.  Oh well, guess Ill just have to deal with it.

Leopard TE 8

I think that most of us who are fans of d3football have also checked out Don Hansen.  He has been around longer.  But it's like the difference between a new Mercedes and an old clunker.  They both get you where you are going, but one is more reliable.  Most people get the reliable car ASAP.  The information on this site is much more thought out and cohesive and reliable.

There are posters on this board who are always worth reading because their comments are well thought out, even though they are great fans of a particular team.  Others do a sloppy job in their presentations and nobody pays much attention..  That is the difference between d3football and Don Hansen.

FYI - Check out coco's comments about Don Hansen on the NWC board today.
