Yeah thanks i understand this is the sciac board so not many chapman posters anyway... im just trying to find out as much as i can about the two programs... from a different point of view than from the coaches that have have been calling. I agree though redlands does sell itself they have had the most thorough recruiting process out of any school i have visited and they call often... im just not sure im going to be one of 70 kids in this years recruiting class and will have to wait behind upper classman to play

Biff,

Both Redlands and Chapman are very good academic schools. You couldn't go wrong with either choice. Redlands football program has a lot of tradition and success. They have outstanding facilities and a great coaching staff. Chapman has a new coaching staff, but a very good one. They also have a brand new football stadium that will attract players. And yes you might have to wait your turn for playing time. If your one of the best 22 players then you will start, if your in the next twenty then you will get plenty of playing time through special teams and backup play. The reality is DIII is a very competitve level of football. Most kids just don't walk in from high school and dominate. It has happned before but most have to earn their playing time. If your a competitve kid then it won't be a problem. If you don't fit that mold then I would say Redlands isn't the place for you. Good luck!!

Alright well thanks for the info RFB... im close to making my decision on where to go and just wanted some any input i could get... also could anyone tell me how the an independent team like chapman would make the playoffs becuase i know that the SCIAC champion recieves an automatic bid i was wondering how it works out for independent teams? Would they have to go 9-0?

Chapman would have to go 9-0 to get in for sure. They could possibly get in at 8-1 but they would have to have swept the SCIAC and lost to a high profile team like Linfield or Wisconsin-Whitewater. Chapman has never been to the playoffs since they restarted their program in 1994 and I don't see them going any time soon. Just my opinion.

So Biff   What position do you play?   That will have something to do with your chances to play as a frosh.

Biff0123

I play linebacker and fullback but every school i have talked to wants me to play linebacker and i enjoy playing linebacker much more... i do like redlands main defense they run too it looks like a great defense to play in as a linebacker

Biff,

I checked out your e-mail address. Forget football. I think you should go to the school closest to the beach.  8)

I looked up the coaches on the web. (see below)  The coordinators aren't listed yet.  Who are they? I know last year's DC is now the OC, but who is the new DC?

Bobby,

Rumor has it that UR is going back to the gun/spread with 4 & 5 wide like they ran years ago.  I think if I were a wr this would interest me.

You seem to know a lot about the team  Are you a recent Ex-player? Alumnus? Faculty? Local? A journalist or broadcaster like  the poster "tigersports"?

BTW, Do you know when the schedule will be finalized?  Will they be coming near Texas again this year? :)

You left out "Parent" or "Parent of cheerleader" as a possibility.

The very first listing is Skip Fazio, defensive coordinator, lb coach!!!!!!!!!  he has done a great job at UR as evidenced by the performance of his defense last year and they will only get better.

I dont know anymore than anyone else about UR,  just a fan.  I read, I listen, I ask,  I learn.  ;)

If I were a defensive player, I would want to play for Fazio.  In watching the games he is extremly intense and very positive with his players.  In my opinion, that is a perfect combination.  You can tell by watching the team that the players have bought into his form of coaching.

Jeff Thomas was promoted to OC and  from what Ive been told he is a great coach and will do an outstanding job.

UR is lucky to have both of them.

Thank you, snoop.

We all read these boards to learn.  So this is valuable information that we all can use.  I'm sure Biff will find it especially useful.

I'm sure the Whitworth fans will find the  heads up on the new offensive scheme especially useful in the first game in Spokane.  :-X

a +karma for you.

Im sure that the Whitworth staff is going to plan their defensive scheme around a post on a message board,  Geeez. ::)  Thanks for the stuff though.
