Yea?  So?

Widolff has done a great job, he's the winningest Oxy coach ever . . . he has how many league titles in his tenure?

Look, he has his philosophy for scheduling.  It seems to work.  Would I like to see the Tigers split years with a Northwest Conf. team based out of Seattle or Spokane?  Sure, would love it (not McMinnville for the same reasons that I see no need to travel unnecessarily to Wisconsin this time of year) . . .

But it ain't gonna change unless/until someone with authority decides to change it.

So from my perch, quitcherbitchen' to all who lament the schedule and appreciate what we've got while we've got it . . . I remember playing on the a team with the first winning record in over a decade (before Widolff's arrival . . . including a losing season w/ a SCIAC crown) . . . so I guess that I'll just thank the stars for Widolff, his recruiting success, the fact that the administration supports athletics, and enjoy the current run.

It'll end too soon.

I guess if you're looking forward to 2012 . . . not sure who our opponent that date will be.

Oct. 6, 2007 . . . ha . . . that's about as likely as the polar cap disappearing . . .

oops, bad analogy.

Redlands vs. Haskell Photo Gallery

Redlands has new home uniforms. Can't say I'm a fan of them. I was hoping for the all maroon home look that Redlands wore in the mid-90's. Now those were sweet!

From the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, here's an article about Claremont's trip to Ohio, and the Stags' win over Kenyon:

CMS Football Team Makes Most Of Trip To Ohio

An early update on thre CMS 2008 non league schedule.

QuoteThe distance does prove an obstacle, so the teams will not be playing next season. The Stags' nonconference slate in 2008 will include Chapman and Lewis & Clark at home and Puget Sound on the road.

Here's a couple of articles from the Salem Statesman Journal and the Ventura County Star about Willamette's 14-7 win over Cal Lutheran:

Willamette Drops Cal Lutheran In Home Opener

Offense Struggles Again As CLU Falls

CLU had only 115 yards in total offense, 33 net yards rushing in 29 carries, and 82 passing yards. Yikes.

OxyBob

OB,
You didn't sneak that one from Salem  in, just to get us the adult entertainment ad at the top of the page, did you? :D ;D

Hey, you asked the question:

Quote from: Sabretooth Tiger on September 16, 2007, 01:16:47 PM
Could Oxy be a better/improved team in its first post-Collins year?

Not getting the answer you liked, you labeled me "the enemy within," which is pretty amusing, seeing that I made the trip to Menlo to see the team play. Where were you, by the way? Oh, yeah, over on the NWC board asking cawcdad for a game recap.

I posted Keith McMillan's opinion, which you ignored. Oxy Oswald, who was also at the game, posted his opinion, which you ignored. Unable to sway us to your side of things, and to wrap up the discussion that you started, you told us to shut up:

Well done, King Solomon.

OxyBob

Geez, you are a touchy sonofabitch.

1.  Where was I?  Hmm . . . while you read my note to cawdad asking for an eyewitness report, you apparently missed by response to scandi about our shared weekend devoted to young ones playing soccer (as the team coach, my commitment to my son and his team takes priority over Oxy).

2.  I didn't ignore Keith's opinion, in fact, I read it way before you posted it.  I think he is spot on.  I even typed a post saying so, though ultimately decided to not post figuring Keith didn't need me to agree with him and I didn't need to pile on what we all know is Oxy's weakness on the national scene.

3.  Didn't mean to pee in your cheerios with the "enemy within" comment, no slight intended, just figured that Oxy gets enough crap about its scheduling from the NWC and Redlands crowd . . . no need to engage in too much self-loathing . . . remember, I'm an uncritical, unthinking booster of all things orange and black.

cheers,

tooth

dissension.......what makes America great!  I'm very happy to see OB plays no favorites.

Sorry GF, didn't mean to raise the fur on your back....the who cares was all in fun.  Chill dude! ;)

D O.C.

I really did not want to ignite the family fight. Of course, my motives are purplecentric because I want the 10 game Division III schedule and the playoff power pods that come with it if one shows well.

My recollection is that SCIAC rules limit football teams to nine games per season.  Any change comes by a vote of the ADs and Presidents of the member schools . . .

Not holding my breath.

ummalum

As far as we are concerned JONES is not nearly as good as advertised, jake is so much better, take him back. RAZOR is the MAN

Pat Coleman

And Jake is ... ?

Hard to compare him against past UWW quarterbacks. They had Derek Stanley and Pete Schmitt to throw to. Those guys didn't end up in NFL camps accidentally.
