Oh what to do with an off week. Stuck watching ND get it up the @$$.

Somewhat saddened to see CMS' passing stats from last week. Not sure of the reason why. But, that isn't going to beat anyone. Either pressure... or the plethora of short WRs.

Better have that solved by Oxy.

Unis:
Poets- like the new unis. The old ones were a bit mismatched. Would do away with the number outlining. But otherwise, very nice.
Redlands- Eh... neither the old ones or the new ones are really cutting it. Go back to something classic.

Really really think that the SCIAC needs to go to 10 games. If nothing else, it is 4 more games for the guys to play.
Maybe if we could get CalTech to field a team........

MonroviaCat

I want to say that as I was driving by Caltech the other day that they are actually building on what used to be their football field...either that or they are building all around it...not totally sure...
Go Cats!

Does this mean that they aren't going to bring back football at Caltech?

That is what I was wondering as I drove by...I suppose they could play at PCC or the Rose-Bowl ;) .  Right, they could probably play at a local highschool (or against a local higschool for that matter)....  Anybody else been by Caltech lately---I thought the buidling was on or near the field but somebody should confirm this (or refute it).

Where to go in town to eat, good resturants, etc?

I will look forward to Oxybob's reply.

Dear Cuban Pete:

Try Stanley & Seafort's.

Sincerely,

OxyBob
This is going to sound weird, but the best clam chowder I have ever had is in a place in Midland, Texas.  When I talked to them about it, they said the recipe is from Seattle.  So if S&S has chowder, you might consider it.

Bon appetit!   :)

How sad.
I know that no one goes to Cal Tech for the sports, let alone the football.
But, I think back to all the Mudders I played with - hard working, some of the best players we had and very social. Yeah they slept 3 hours a night and did work I could not fathom. True that few Mudders play NCAA sports, but they all take intramurials way too seriously. I'm sure that the CalTech kids love their sports. I had the opportunity to watch their basketball team a couple of times and they really worked hard and cared about it (while obviously having fun).
I just can't help but think that they would be slightly better off with less midnight classes and more things like sports, acapella groups, etc.

Oh well. I can't fault them for pushing their brains as far as possible. Much more of a challange than sitting around Pitzer getting stoned and trying to find meaning in a blade of grass.

Completely agree the SCIAC should go to 10 games, but like has been discussed before it takes a vote from the AD's and Presidents of all the schools.  I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

Maybe the afore mentioned voters would get inspired if they read Keith's Around the Nation this week, which discusses Hardin-Simmons being 0-2 against top 25 oppenents and the benefits they are reaping.  (Pertinent information under the heading Scheduling Conflict)

As far as CalTech fielding a team... I am pretty sure someone would die.  Let's go ahead and take solace in the fact that they will solve global warming and end up being most of our bosses some day -- keep those big brains off the field though.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Not sure if anyone had noticed but Oxy finally got their roster up.  Some stuff is still being worked on, but the bulk of the info is there.

Alas, I do believe I was mistaken.  I drove by Caltech again and they are building but my visual-spacial skills must have taken a hike because the building appears to be north of both the Football/Soccer and Baseball/Softball facilities.  I was thinking, they do have a soccer team and probably would not build over the field for that reason alone.  This certainly doesn mean they will ever bring back football but at least if they did they would have a field...  :)

Caltech had a football "club" in the 70's that included professors and staff as well as students.  They used to play junior varsity squads, jc's, military teams, semi-pro teams and the like.  They had fun.

That team is no longer around.  Caltech has, however, added a rugby football club.

Hello all,

Does anyone know where a good place to tail-gate is at Chapman?  We are a group of Redland supporters looking to tailgate on Sept 29 before the 7pm game.  Thanks in advance for any advice.
