Scandi- thanks for the helping the special ed kid.

Oxy bob- I hope CLU stays with purple. Violet also refers to a type of "pansy". There were no pansies at CLU on Saturday. The "gold " jersy's did the job! Keep it going Kingsman.

good meeting you out there..we are still in pain. :)

Article from the Orange County Register about Chapman's 37-8 win over Claremont:

Chapman Football: Something About Mary

QuoteEric Mary completed 21 of 26 passes for 326 yards and a touchdown to lead Chapman to a 37-8 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at Wilson Field.

Despite the oh-so-clever movie reference in the headline, the kid's name is Eric Marty, not Mary.

QuoteThe Panthers (2-2) led 24-0 after three quarters before Marty put a blemish on his stellar performance by throwing two fourth-quarter interceptions.

Staggs converted the second interception into a touchdown, making the score 24-8, after the two-point conversion.

Marty was hot, but it must have been chili out there for CMS.

OxyBob

we'll try and score more than one TD this week..no promises.:)

This should be a fun game. It's a reunion of sorts for some Troy guys. Two Troy alums on Chapman and one for the Poets. Bragging rights at stake.

The boy was home this weekend and was not very pleasant to be around.

I bought him a new set of bongos to help with his depression.

Poets being pummeled by the Kingsmen 30-7 third quarter.  Ricky and Lucy lost on the 23 freeway, news at eleven. ;) ;D

I wish we did get lost. ;) what a buttwhupping we got today. Penalties, countless turnovers and of course the inability to move the ball.  Very painful.

I did get the chance to meet oxybob and redbulldog today..that was more painful than the game.
Caught the Kingsman game this weekend.  Just a solid overall effort from Cal Lu.  Nothing was overly impressive, but they looked good (Other than those ugly jerseys).  Apparently they've worked out any kinks that were holding them back early on.  Caught a glimpse of FTP and his wife from across the field when #63 sacked QB Toilolo.  I think the fans at home could hear the cheers all the way back in Whittier.  Also a great effort by the CLU defense to contain Scurlock and force him to make mistakes, the d-line had him spinning in circles most of the day.

After the contest in TO I made it out to friendlier confines and caught the Oxy/UR game.  A great game by Oxy, they controlled the pace for most of the game and took advantage of Redlands mistakes.  Believe me, Oxy knows they beat a good team this Saturday.  Good luck to Redlands for the rest of the season -- hopefully we can squeeze a second SCIAC team into the playoffs.

On a less positive note,  the announcer was the most annoying I have ever heard , even more so than PP's last year.  Wow, I havnt heard the crowd be warned about booing the refs before by an announcer and threatening to throw you out if you did.  What a clown......and oh yeah, "lets support both teams in a positive way"....Im all for that, except he needed to practice what he preached.  I always thought the announcer should be, somewhat neutral.  It was really funny after the game to hear the UR crowd boo the announcer.  He deserved it.
The announcer was rediculous.  Telling fans not to boo and to edit their responses to calls and situations is idiocy.  Good luck getting 1000 people to sit quietly through a three hour football game.  :-\

Really, UR has nobody to blame but themselves, what with 17 penalties.  I was on a Bulldog team that was "uncharacteristically undisciplined" in 2001, and the "cure" was an interesting one. One 40 yard sprint for every yard in penalties.  I wonder if that will go into effect this week?
The boys better lace up their nike's, that's a lot of sprints.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Job well done by both the Tigers and Redlands this weekend.

Unfortunately, I missed the biggest game of the season thus far and tailgating due to work.
I thought my shift in taking care of my students at their Homecoming dance would be covered by my elderly peer.  Yet instead, i was forced to say longer because she got sick. (Darn elderly folk).  However, i do thank Dawg57 and Coco for being the play by play announcers on this board and am grateful for all their insight. It sure did lighten up my mood to read the updates. Good luck to the Pups this year, as we all know they will indeed add more pressure to the SCIAC race.

Btw, i hope someone doesn't forget to tell the Pups to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate after they do run their 40 sprints. ;D

If you ask "Ricky" he might say the cheering was coming from just "Lucy"..  I've been acussed a few times of being really loud!! ;D

The young Dawg did say after the game he was not looking forward to practice this week after the performance at Oxy.

BE....I wouldnt say job well done with 17 penalties.

GO BULLDOGS !!

Your absolutely right NC, but i must at least give some props (as the old tooth would say) to 1) the pups for racking up a lot on offense (sounds like young coach thomas will sure keep his O.C job), 2) for continuing to play hard even though they had 17 penalties, and 3) for keeping the game so close. That's all i meant.

I was (surprisingly) paying attention to calling the game and did not gauge the context of the announcements, though I heard them.  I hope we wasn't telling people not to boo.  If that's the standard for announcements, then he's going to have play an endlessly repeating announcement at basketball games.  Same goes for hoops games at Redlands.

Thanks to all who listened in.

FWIW...

"Safety school!"  "Safety school!"

I did not get that cheer at first as OXY students in front of me were yelling it when the game was decided. The logic I took at LINFIELD helped me figure it out.

I only ever applied to one school, LINFIELD.

Ah, to be young and callow . . . thank god I was never that obnoxious, drunk and/or stupid.

OK Bob, go ahead . . . abuse away . . .  ;) ;D

snoop dawg

Why do you think OB is the only one you have subjected yourself to abuse from? ;D

Heck, your wife told me you were like that Saturday night. ;)

Sabretooth Tiger

Nice try GrandpaDawg . . . but I know damn well where my wife was on Saturday night given that I HAD TO BE WITH HER AND NOT AT THE FRICKIN' GAME!!!

;D

Besides, unless the brain cells have self destructed, OB is the sole individual on this board who can speak to any past youthful indiscretions/callow behaviour of mine from an eyewitness POV.

tooth....I really wanted you to be at the game so that you could mediate any and all past, present and future disputes between me and your eye witness friend. ;)  I'm sure OB would pick up the costs.

You missed a great game played by two tough and one penalized team. I'm sure someone will take objection to that comment and tell me how negative I am. :D

BTW....WT, dont worry, I'm not mad at ya.  After all, we are practically neighbors. ;)
