If it's the same guys as two years ago he was annoying then so maybe he is just more experienced at being annoying.  :-\  Refs can take care of themselves. I am all for good sportsmenship on the feild but come on I doubt that it was anything like at Philly or the Black Hole in Oakland. (My two trips to both schools were positive in all ways. Nice people, nice towns, oh maybe not so much Oxy but still nice people. )
Heated contest, lots at stake, be for real announcer guy this wasn't a Tibetan Monk tiddely wink contest.
See snoop dawg I can be nice.

Wild Thing....sorry you didn't like my post.

Again, it was a great game and both teams played hard.  It's why you pay an admission.

I am all for civility at a game.  The Redlands fans are great.  It was insulting to be scolded by an announcer before and during the game when both teams' fans were exhibiting good sportsmanship.  The only time anyone got on the refs and, may have booed, was during the self destructing 6 penalties as referred to by OB.  Quite honestly, I can say that I saw at least four of them and they were not bad calls. The other two, I don't know about.

He kept saying over and over and over that the fans have to support both teams in a positive way, yet, he antagonized fans with his," and thaaattts anooothhhter Tigggeeeerrrr fiiiirrrrsssst dooownnn", or, "that penalty was costly for the Bulldogs"....please just get the down and yardage right, the players involved and announce it.

The most annoying announcement was something like this.....Occidental will not tolerate any racial, ethnic, etc. slurs from the fans, or any antagonistic remarks directed toward the refs, ...this is cause for ejection.....I'm paraphrasing but, if he said it once, which I could understand, he said it a dozen times.  Sorry, just my opinion, he was insulting.

Both teams' fans were polite, enthusiastic and made the game fun to watch.  The Oxy hospitality was very nice, from the fans to the concession stand. It was funny that at half time, I was standing in the aisle talking with another parent and DO.C. came up and  asked me if any UR parents were at the game, he was looking for me.  Nice guy, glad I met him.  Is that positive enough for you Wild Thing?

Congrats to Coach Wildoff on a great accomplishment and career, his team was very prepared and played a great game.  Oxy should be proud to have him as their coach.

Sorry I missed you OB, just thought it was better to remain pen pals. ;)

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

stealth....thanks for the nice words, but be prepared for the negative k once you even remotely agree with anything I say.  To combat this I will applaud you every time I see you take a hit.  After all, you don't want to walk the dark path of the snoop do ya? ;)

So what you're saying is that Oxy has adopted AYSO rules?

;)

I have been told the announcements were in response to Oxy's own fans. Interesting ...

OB....multiple +k's for you, that is some hilarious stuff.

PC.....from our side of the stands, I didnt hear any comments from the Oxy stands that fit into the category of the numerous behave yourself announcements.  I did hear some awful voice singing the Oxy fight song. The singer looked like he just got off the bus.  As I said before, the Oxy fans and staff were models of hospitalityand sportsmanship, except for the PA announcer, heck even OB was on his best behavior.

The only thing missing was tooth wearing one of those silly sailor hats. ;)

I know the lighting issue at Patterson has been discussed on this board before, IMO it still wasn't great, maybe that was the reason for the 6 penalities called by those blind, no good,  @#$%&^* refs on the last UR drive. ::) ;) :D

Browneagle64

That is so freaken hilarious Bob. Who helped you on those rules; your Oxy classmates from 1955?

I remember hearing the announcer doing this last year during several home games and didn't expect him to stress on this statement of conduct so much. Maybe, the guy that used to do the Oxy games during the late 90's and early 00 should be brought back. (tigersports, do you know the guy????)

In this guy's defense, he's probably just reading what's put in front of him...It's probably some donkey in charge that thinks the announcements are necessary.  Probably the same person that delivers sliced oranges down to the locker room at half time!

D O.C.

As I'm sure she appreciated your euphemism for "being in a bad mood."

(as in the referee I believe.)    :-[

OB....I thought D O.C. was your date.  At least that is what he told me at the game. ;)

I have been told the announcements were in response to Oxy's own fans.

I didn't see or hear anything inappropriate directed by Oxy fans towards Redlands fans that would have required repeated reprimands over the PA system, but, then again, I was only actually there. The only profane sexist comments I heard were those whispered into my ear by my date, and I must say that I rather enjoyed them.

OxyBob

you old charmer!  How do you get away with taking a date to watch two games in one day. It had to be your sister?

wait a minute, if you were dating your sister, that would make you a Redlands fan.  my bad
