damn man, I was still having cookies and milk at recess in '74 :)

And you've got a kid playing at Whittier while I have a 3rd grader . . .

Hmm . . . who's really older?

Remember, you're only young once but you can be immature forever!

touche'...........   that sounds like a talk I've had with Little ricky on a few occasions. ;)

Not to break the beer karma here, but the SCIAC tiebreaker is head to head.  You do have a chance for the dreaded "unwieldy tie" if Oxy loses to Cal Lu and Redlands beats Cal Lu and each team wins out otherwise.  My guess is that overall record would come into play with Cal Lu dropping out due to having actually scheduled competitive teams (as opposed to Oxy) and then Oxy getting the nod over UOR in the head to head.  I don't see any other way, except for the dreaded "athletic director" vote.

As for the penalties, there were at least 2-3 on UOR's last drive for having 12 men in the huddle or false starts.  Those are not suspicious, just dumb.  There was an OPI penalty (though not on that drive, I believe) that was a blatant push-down by the receiver.  I didn't see the "chalk" block (rhymes curiously with another kind of block), but the flag went down way before the pass went off.  It's also a very dangerous play and needs to be called very time.

The Oxy PA announcer back in 99 and 00 was Gary Goodrich, who would've walked out of the booth before reading the "announcement" the third time.

We'll be on air this Saturday at oxybroadcast.com.  Since you don't have the choice of the (much better) Redlands guys, you're stuck with us if you want to listen, especially since snoop dawg won't be at the game.

I wouldn't assume overall record -- there's plenty of ... admittedly unattractive ... ways to break a three-way tie where each split against the other two, but I don't know of any leagues that jump right to overall record.

Rose Bowl Rule is a popular one (whomever has gone the longest without going to the playoffs gets the nod). Some way of comparing scores is often used, perhaps with a cap of margin of victory to discourage running up the score.

So the "chaulk block" was undoubtedly a "chop block" yes?

And what about a penalty for wearing white shoes after labor day?

Snoop,

Nothing wrong with the MIAC, but they spend hours extolling the glories of Hamm's beer.

Beer is good.  Good beer is better.

Hey, they know good beer; they just can't afford it. :D  Right now they really like Fat Tire.

When I go to the games at Saint John's I always take a variety of good left coast beers - Sierra Nevada, Anchor Steam, Full Sail, etc.

Lets face it....the dawgs shot themselves in the paws....all four.....

Tigersports.....I've listened to your broadcsts and I would pick you guys over Mitch and crew all day.

I personally didn't like the female reporters article.

P.S....tooth  I am surprised it took you this long to pick up on the chop block thing ;D

That's because old age is kicking in for the tooth. ;D(just kidding)

LOL, OB.  You think that's only five octaves?   I still think I was a level or two down from Joe Starkeyhttp://gummiwisdom.com/sounds/ThePlay-Cal25-Stanford20.au.  I really wanted to channel Jack Buck's "I don't believe what I just saw," which still gives chills to this most jaded of Dodger-haters.  Instead, I channeled my inner Gus Johnson.

You come really close to making it sound like she can't write sports because she's female.

Knowing you, you'll say you didn't mean that, so I'll just respond now and say you shouldn't have found it necessary to include her gender in the sentence.

Ah come on . . . everyone knows that when it comes to writing,  the chicks, babes, hotties, honeys, hoochies, betties, mamas, girls, and playthings are only good for shopping lists and childrens books.

Get real, the next thing you know, they'll want access to the locker room . . .

that'll be the day . . .

where's the battery for my hearing aid?

;)

PC...I merely used the wording from a prior post.   It's just like you to look for the dark side in my post. ;)  However, she was whinning, that, not her gender, was my problem withthe article.  In fact, I read the article before it was posted and I chose to keep quiet on the subject rather than take the heat.

I hardly think caoch Maynard would blame the refs for illegal substitution, or procedure.  They won, we blew our opportunities to win the game and that is the bottom line.  If I were writing the article, even if I wrote for a Redlands newspaper, I would tell it like it is.
