Based on the regional rankings and the pool c explanation given by d3 UR obviously has to win out to get the pool c bid, but, I think they must also win by large margins.  I think this secnario sometimes puts coaches in situations where they feel they must run up the score to impress the polls.  It's a fine line between doing the right thing for your team and unsportsmanlike conduct.  Any thoughts?

It's not OB but, if they squeek  by the bottom teams of the SCIAC I think they will drop in the regional rankings and as a direct consequence, may lose out on the pool c bid.  Certainly, squeeking by lousy teams would influence  the voters thinking on the strenght of the ranked team even though margin of victory isnt a criteria.

Yeah, I could see how they would need to win impressively to keep the selection committee confident in them.  I mean it's just human nature to look and consider the scores of games right?

redbulldog-  I think you might have been confused by my last post.  The quote was from one of the CLU players and I was pointing out him saying "I'll beat OXY."  Do I think OXY will win?  Yes.  Do I think OXY is going to crush them?  No.  Not sure they have crushed anyone yet...........wait, I forgot about their non-conference schedule



RBD, just so you know, Wild Thing is a CLU guy. Still, as you said, it does go to show that with merely an average performance Oxy can beat Redlands.

As for you Oxy bob, I do agree that Oxy will win against CLU (not CLC in this instance) and with a typical average performance to boot. I would just feel better with a dominate Oxy performance however,  then I could stop my therapy sessions about the Redlands loss. (It's getting expensive) Continuing to see our SCIAC leader struggle against teams like PP and Claremont pains me.

Cal Lu, Chapman and yes, Whittier for Oxy's final three games. Afterwards, will be saying Oxy shoulda, coulda, woulda? Fear the poet- do you believe in a miracle?

Good thing you "haven't mailed in" the blowout yet. I definately respect your belief that maybe "the who" might turn this into a real good game." However, like i've mentioned since the start of the season, there are 5 guys (for Oxy) in the front offense of line who will make sure that the offense is spinning on all cylinders from the start of the game. I wish your Cal Lu team the best of luck at the Rock this weekend though.

  I understand that the Pony Express doesn't roll into T.O until the day of the Oxy/Cal Lu game, so maybe you might have time to mail in the results by then. Just kidding.

It makes sense if they do. PD is an hour East of Redlands and I have to think the air quality is much better there than in Redlands.
