Choice had to be made by Coach Maynard to change to Palm Desert or risk a cancelled game at Redlands if the air quality didn't improve. As it turns out, air quality for Saturday is probably now be good enough to play at Redlands, but at the time, the smart decision was to make sure the game would be played for obvious reasons. It now can not be changed back.

BTW-Oxy Bob- the drivers license was hilarious!

D O.C.

But now where do I go for my homecoming tailgate?

Oh, that's right, I did not go to Redlands.

Seriously...any insight on the parking set-up?

I hope the air quality is good out there for the Redlands game. I hate to see these young men put in a bad situation. Lucy and I were concerned this week becuase LR has abit of an asthma issue. The air quality in Whittier seems ok.

My heart goes out to all the families that have been affected by these devestating wild fires. I feel very fortunate that my house and family are not directly affected. Lets have a safe weekend of football.

Fear the Poet

does total points scored or margin of victory play into playoff berths?

Speaking of the Redlands situation.... Didn't something happen like this exactly 3 years back in '03 ???? I think it was late October when the game against Claremont had to be pushed back until the end of the season... and then Claremont upset Redlands right before their playoff loss to Linfield... I think we were playing APU at the time and the smoke was out of control. I remember we hardly practiced that week becasue the ash was getting in everyone's eyes.

Hope everyone remains safe. Hope for a good one out in the desert!

thank you very little

You asked if total points scored and margin of victory are part of the criteria to determine playoff berths. As far as I can tell they're not. Also, under the established criteria there is no incentive to run up the score, and I'd argue that there is a distinct disincentive to do so. For example, if Redlands runs up the score on La Verne, then Redlands does nothing to improve its Opponent's Winning Percentage, and a lopsided win makes La Verne look even weaker than it already is, which further weakens Redlands' strength of schedule.

OxyBob

i read it as well..looks like a blow out means nothing.

Ok, Good! Hear that Bulldogs? Take it easy on the Leopards and play them close the whole game... You really dont want to hurt your chances of making the playoffs by blowing them out...

Hey, If you lose to La Verne, that would give ULV their frst win of the year... Which would increase your strength of schedule!!!!!  ;D

Well....if you read my post I never suggested that the dawgs run up the score.  I posed a....hypothetical question....to open discussion on the matter.  Big difference.  According to Pat, they need only win, however, I just can't help but feel that a close score hurts UR against ULV.  And, I disagree with you OB, after reading the ULV rankings you posted, and considering the fact that margin of victory is not a criteria for winning a pool c bid, the loss by ULV, regardless of the score will hurt in the opponents winning percentage.

So I guess the dawgs should lose the game to increase the their opponent's winning percentage!  ::)

snoop dawg

Yeah, exactly why I did raise the issue. I believe the margin of victory would influence the voters when a ranked team who is trying to get a pool c bid  barely beats a winless team.   It's just like a jury Bob, they aren't suppose to consider stricken testimony...but they do.

Maybe we should call you Clairvoyant Bob since you seem to already know what they think. I brought it up to see what others thought of the issue.  However, your clairvoyance has once again shown me the light.  ::)

La Verne vs. Pups score update:  Pups 3    Leo's 7 at the start of the 2nd quarter.

by the way, i must honestly say that the NetRadio B-cast of the pups game is done well by the crew. These guys are up there with Tigesports and co. in doing a well job. However, the b-cast sounds like hamradio streaming from someone's garage.
