I just got my plane ticket for the game! Can't wait...are any other alumni/parents going to make the trip???
Make sure you secure a ticket to the game itself.  They are controlled by the NCAA and not the schools.  I hear that it is a great atmosphere at  St. John's and regular season games are sold out.

GO BULLDOGS!

Gray,

I wouldn't worry about getting a ticket at the gate.  SJU has INCREDIBLE attendance but it slips some in the playoffs due to the visiting teams not bring as big of crowds as their local rivals and with the weather getting worse.

Just so everyone knows, there is no such thing as a sellout at SJU.  GA seating (i.e. on the hills) is unlimited.  Nobody is ever turned away.

I went out to Thousand Oaks yesterday with my son (it was his first d3 or any football game), but he's pretty young, so he won't remember it.

I was also impressed by the Redlands D, but I think that CLU's QB needs some more snaps to get better.  Not to mention he rarely had time with the RU DL and LBs constantly getting thru the CLU OL.

Still, having never seen west coast D3 ball, I really enjoyed the game and the atmosphere.

Congrats to the Dogs and good luck in Minnesota.

Where as St. John's University has had two crowds in excess of 12,000 this season the visitors section should serve the Redlands fans quite comfortably.

Also the Dawgs were hosed by having to go out to SJU.  It should be the other way around.  BTW...I think this match up is very good for Redlands.  The Dawgs defense is going to cause major issues for the SJU offense.  That is going to be a fun one to follow.

Wildcat; If the Johnnies conduct themselves offensively as they did yesterday on the road to Bethel, you certainly are solidly positioned in your assessment.

For the second year in a row the Johnnies lost to a Bethel team that completely dominated the time of possesion.  It was a no contest yesterday in the second half.  A mere 18 plays for the Js.

Coupled with an SJU defense that had difficulty holding Bethel on downs you were left with a 3 point Bethel victory off a 32 yard pass and 1 yard touchdown run.  22 seconds were left on the board at that point.

Generally speaking the Johnnies have been a far superior team at home offensively.  If the Bulldogs play an enthused and inspired game they can win next Saturday.

As simple as it sounds if St. John's is intent on winning they will.

What's an "Olivet" and how did it beat out Whitworth?
It is the winner of the Pool A Bid that the MIAA has acquired, first by accepting the affiliate membership of Wisconsin Lutheran in football for the last 5 years, and secondly, inviting football-playing Tri-State University to join as a full member from the NAIA.

That same Pool A bid will go to the NWC in 2008, because they invited Menlo to become an affiliate member since 2006.

Fear the Poet

best of luck to Coach Maynard and the Dawgs. I will be rooting for them!

What holds down attendance during the playoffs isn't the weather; it's deer hunting season. 8)

Congratulations to the Poets in their big win last night. Of course, it would have been awesome to hear that the men in orange and black would've walked away with a share of the SCIAC crown and the shoes, but, as mentioed long before all good things must come to an end. Great to hear that the boys kept on fighting and not giving up. Best of luck to all the Oxy seniors as they end a great chapter in Oxy football history.

Best wishes for the Pups as they finally got a nod and invite to the big dance.

Would someone tell me what the story behind "The Shoes" is.  Just a basic overview, unless it is a secret ;)

Your in for great DIII atmosphere at the "Johnnies" if you make it. The student body really get's into it. All Red. 10k plus attendance but maybe not for this game. While it may not snow real hard there yet it is getting pretty cold. Long johns, no pun intended. are a must. Redlands will be up against it big time. Home feild, a very big home crowd, cold weather, top 4 ranked team and a legendary coach. But enjoy the people they are some of the most hospitable folks in the country. Strap it up men and represent the SCIAC well.

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Stealth,

The dogs are very familiar with St. Johns....the cold was overrated last time we played there, and this weekend the weather report is calling for mid 40's.  The dogs wont be intimidated by anything.  I must admit...when we played there in 02 the crowd was quiet until the 4th qtr...once St. Johns tied, and then took the lead it was a tough place to play.  Hopefully the dogs can keep the crowd out of the game!!!

Gray Fox

The Linfield fans complain that nobody wants to play them because they are so strong.

Now, nobody will want to schedule Oxy because of their dismal OWP. ::)

Yes, and NASCAR has been asked by Texas Motor Speedway to move their Chase Race in November up a few weeks because of Deer Season.  ;)
