Thanks 57 Johnnie...I just to ask who Nick was because the other Johnnie fan said we don't have anyone like him in the SCIAC.  I checked the roster and the kid weighs 250lbs (which usually means 240).....and yes, we have lineman that size here!!!!

The Dogs are commin!

If you would like to bring something Southern California-esque to share, that would be a treat.

You want them to bring quiche and sushi?  ???

Hint: We don't brag on size.  Everyone is bigger than the Johnnies.

I believe the nice fan from SJU was referring to his frequent TFLs and Sacks over the course of his career.
Taking a look at his historic stats, current stats, accolades, as well as picture, I would say there is probably some validity to the statement. At the very minimum, he looks to be a fine athlete. He also looks to have some fine D players with him who love to be in the backfield.
Not so say I won't want the SCIAC represented well, but SJU is a powerhouse program. As for West Coast v. Midwest, the elite of the Midwest are still better than the elite of the West Coast until someone goes in and knocks off UWW, SJU, MUC, etc.
I'm sure it will be a fine game. I just don't happen to think that UoR will be able to beat SJU. No bias against UoR included. I just happen to think they have a better understanding of what it takes as a program, believe that they always have something to prove and play with a slightly different chip on their shoulder than UoR.

EastCoastStag,

Your just drinking the "punch" like everybody else.  St. Johns is a great program, I am not denying that...but if everyone around the country keeps talking about how great they are, and how they are the best thing out there I am going to puke.  Before going there in 2002 we heard that all week...it was amazing...then we walked out for warmups and it was all the same.  I was amazed, but the field was still 100 yards long...there were still two endzones, and there was a scoreboard!!!  Could you belive it?

You said St. Johns will be playing with the chip on their shoulder moreso than Redlands?  I don't think so....the one playing with the "chip" is usually the underdog...and everyone belives that is Redlands.

As for West Coast Football...ask St. Johns to compete with a hundred or so legit Junior Colleges across the state, and hundereds of other programs across the country recruiting California kids to their programs.  I do see a few Minn kids each Saturday playing for major programs, but I dont think Pete Carrol, Mack Brown and Urban Myer are going to Minn for their first recruiting trips!!!

here we go...

Johnnie fans...take it easy on this guy, he fails to remember they've never won an NCAA playoff game, we hear the recruiting angle all the time...Linfield didn't have any trouble getting their 13 Cali guys... ::)

Of course the pool of potential players to choose from in Southern California is giant compared to most other locations around the country.  You swing a dead cat around in So. Cal and you hit quality football players...you swing a dead cat around in Collegeville and all you'll hit is a toothless guy named Max drinking Hamms.

I will say that I think Redlands has more than a punchers chance this weekend.  SJU's offense at times can be very suspect and I think the Dawgs defense could cause major issues for SJ1.

Bob...add Concordia going down to Linfield in 2005.

It has been our pleasure. We had the time of our lives this year and hopefully will have three more with #63. (doctor permitting of course) We wish we were around all four of your seasons as well. We'll see you around I'm sure. Hopefully you'll be able to come to the games next season. Best of luck!!

We all look for great things in your future.

ps- I will have to admit that some of those option plays caused me to suffer mild heart attacks. :)

Downtown48,

You have 13 cali guys because CA kids want to go to Linfield....athletes want to play for a winner, and Linfield is just that.  On the other hand, I don't think Linfield is driving to inner city San Bernardino or Riverside and recruiting kids.

Linfield may have  success recruiting the more affluent kids of California.  Just to inform everyone....Redlands is not in Orange County or Palm Springs...the city is sourrounded by a lot of talent, but very few of the kids can't afford the $40K+ tuition each year.
