Welcome Dutch to the SCIAC....and to Redlands football.I'm sure all of us Dawg fans are looking forward to another solid season in 2008!

GO BULLDOGS!

Thanks I know my son is looking forward to coming out there.  My family is even planning on taking in a game or two and visiting the sites.

I recommend that you come to the Whitworth and Oxy games. If you can't make those then Dubuque and Cal Lu would be good choices as well.

The Morongo Casino is a must.   Some not so lucky individuals have called it, "Where morons-go".

I was hoping to go to the UD game since I know about them.  The Whitworth game might be a good one as well.

IMO...I think Stealth knew full well that he was going to get some hard jabs back at his troll job of a post.  If Stealth might have posted just "congrats to Jones for his ring" that might have been fine but he did take a pot shot at the entire conference and why would anybody be surprised it didn't receive a warm welcome?

[Wow...I posted on the SCIAC board without ripping on Maynard for ducking Linfield.]

I have to ask this question as being new to the board and conference.  I know that the NWC has trouble filling a schedule of D3 games.  But why rip on Redlands this year as they are playing the NWC champ from last year.  Seems to me that if you are willing to take on the champ from last year and a playoff qualifier from 2 years ago why do you need to play someone farther down in the conference?  Now having said that maybe this goes farther back that 2 years.  Seems to me that to take on a top team in a conference is not ducking anyone but if I am wrong hear I can listen and maybe convinced and change my mind.

Dutch,

It goes beyond much further than the past two years.  Nut Shell: Linfield is 5-0 vs Redlands since 1998 and three of those contests were poundings.  Redlands decided to move on after 2003 which is fine but Linfield has continued to call Redlands about getting back together and they continue to pass.  Heading out of the 2007 season Linfield and Redlands had perfectly matching open dates for 2008 and the 'Cats made multiple offers to Redlands but instead they take on some chumps from Iowa.

Fact is that Linfield hasn't had a regular season game vs the SCIAC since 2003 and that isn't because Linfield doesn't want to play but nobody in the SCIAC wants to play Linfield (regardless if the 'Cats have fallen short of their typical expectations the past two seasons).

That being said, I hope those "chumps" from IA, come out and knock the snot out of Redlands.  Then you all will have more justification regarding their out of conference choices.

Dubuque already gets called "chumps" by everyone on the IIAC page.  Now we get it from the SCIAC page as well  ::)  Oh well, we're used to getting picked on.

WC11....you are really slipping...it took you an hour an a half to respond the the ducking issue.  Either that or you have been practicing self restraint. ;)

Dutchfan,

You will find lots of discussions on the SCIAC and NWC boards about the various philosophies and realities of non-league scheduling.  Once you read the SCIAC board, the NWC board is required supplemental reading. I'll let you learn this all for yourself as you go.

Welcome aboard.   Maybe you will eventually add to our insight on this subject.

snoop,
I'm not sure it's WC11's fault he is late.  I couldn't access this board for several hours today.  I had to watch CSPAN for my entertainment. :)

I didn't know that the SCIAC was a slave to the NWC or that the NWC was entitled to get games where they want them.  To say someone is running or ducking them may be a little self serving and one sided.  We have had discussions about UWW, St Johns, and Central not playing each other regularly.  Why load up on a posible loss when your conference is loaded to start with.  If you are going to beat each other up in the conference then why play a team that you have only a 50/50 chance of beating.  In these days of the Pool C bids two losses just about seal your fate.  OXY found that out this year.  This theory may not hold water since Redlands is taking on the defending NWC champ.  I think there is more going on than school yard chatter and banter.
