Games to follow as the SCIAC conference promises to be competitive again include Oct. 11 (@ Redlands) and Nov. 1 (@ Cal Lutheran).
Bulletin board material for CMS and Whittier? :o

Haha. Your right GF. Even though our SID pointed this out, I can assure you that Coach W. and his staff are making sure that every Tiger understands that in order to beat the SCIAC co-champs, the tigers must win one game at a time. It's been preached since the 2000 season (and probabily even before that) and will indeed be embedded to every tigers this week. Plus, we need to bring back the Shoes to the Rock.

Geez, is the SID really looking for positive things to say?

"Oxy has earned four trips to the NCAA Elite 8 since 1983"

Noe of these kids were even born in 1983 and I thought the Elite 8 was in March ::)

Pat Coleman

Two of those years, "Elite Eight" was synonymous with "First Round."

SIDS are paid to spin and I think she did a great job on that one - hell I'm still dizzy. Meanwhile, goltz has come a long way from the gangly frosh of a few years back. Looking forward to an exciting year in the sciac.

This is a very important statistic. Oxy has gone 12-1 (.923) at home in the 3 seasons since they've played on FieldTurf, which is a vast improvement from the prior 3 years when the Tigers were only 13-2 (.867) at home while playing on grass.

OxyBob

Wow Bob, now that you put it that way I see the importance ;D

I always like to see schools that use their tuition money wisely. ;)

Oh yes we do....... But, at Oxy we spend it on faculty, staff and other aspects (i.e. making facelifts to our academic buildings, better classroom resources, producing a campus in which students will benefit...etc) that make Oxy a top liberal arts college in the U.S.

As for athletics, we work for it. Whether its through putting on high school summer camps, golf classics, alumni fundraisers, making calls to former student-athletes for donations and heck even hosting a very large high school track meet every spring, this is how we pay for things like fieldturf.  ;D

fwiw:

Patterson field upgrade and fieldturf 100 percent donation funded.

Great investment. Increased durability, increased use and scheduling, reduced maintenance cost- water use and downtime.

Don't players need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate when playing on turf?  It must be magical hydrating space turf from Jupiter.

D O.C.

I will miss those black jerseys in the old dim lights though. Great home field advantage.

First OXY game I go to this year I will pass a can for padding in the bleachers and get the ball rolling towards a fully donator improvement.

CLU mention in today's Ventura County Star:

QuoteFootball scrimmages help Moorpark, Ventura College with the unknown

It took 100 plays in Saturday's Moorpark College football intrasquad scrimmage, but the Raiders offense finally got into the end zone.

Sophomore quarterback Donald Senegal scored on a keeper on the final series of the day to give the offense a bright spot.
...

Ventura College coach Jon Mack wouldn't reveal the scorers of the Pirates' scrimmage, but the second-year coach did say his team scored two touchdowns and a field goal.
...

Both teams will play their one allotted intersquad scrimmage of the preseason this weekend. Moorpark will visit El Camino College on Friday in Torrance, while Ventura will host Cal Lutheran on Saturday at 9 a.m. ...
