From ESPN's TMQ:

QuoteDouble Bonus Obscure College Score: Mount Union 45, Wheaton of Illinois 24 (Division III semifinal). Mount Union's Nate Kmic became the all-time NCAA leading rusher at 7,986 career yards, surpassing -- surely you know! -- Danny Woodhead. Woodhead, who played for Chadron State, broke the record previously held by -- surely you know! -- R.J. Bowers. Woodhead went undrafted, had a tryout with the Jets and was waived. Bowers, who played for Grove City College, spent a year on the Steelers' practice squad, then carried seven times for Pittsburgh in a late-season game. Kmic has one more appearance, next weekend's Division III championship versus Wisconsin-Whitewater, in which to extend his record. The Division III championship is called -- surely you know! -- the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. Not to be confused with Wheaton College of Massachusetts, Wheaton College of Illinois, located in Wheaton, Ill., held its annual Christmas Festival three weeks before Christmas.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

And I would bet the remains of my IRAs that the snark-meister who wrote that did not know ANY of the "obscure" facts before looking them up for the hatchet job.

Anyone who relies on ESPN to know diddly about d3 (or d2 for that matter) is living in a fool's paradise.

The author, Gregg Easterbrook, graduated from Colorado College, which in the last 10 years is 25-68, and just completed its 2008 season with a sterling 0-9 record, one of only eight D-III schools to go winless. No wonder he doesn't like D-III football.

This just in:

ORANGE, Calif.,  Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Officials in Orange, Calif., say it will cost
up to $19,000 to fix a fountain broken during Chapman University students'
unofficial Undie Run event.

City officials said during the annual student event, in which students run
through parts of the city in their underwear, a 71-year-old fountain in the
city's traffic circle was damaged, The Orange County (Calif.) Register said
Tuesday.

City spokesman Paul Sitkoff said several underwear-clad students decided to
climb onto the fountain during last Thursday's event, resulting in damage to
the fountain's upper bowl.

Sitkoff said the cost of fixing and cleaning the 1929 fountain would cost
$8,100, but additional costs were possible if the upper bowl has to be
completely replaced.

While the university has agreed to pay for any repairs to the fountain, Orange
Mayor Carolyn Cavecche said she is still concerned with the city property
damage and the possible use of police to contain the non-sanctioned run.
"Those are my major concerns, and that's putting aside having college students
take their clothes off and party in the city's plaza," Cavecche told the
Register.

Does CLU, Redlands, Oxy, Whittier, etc have a similar "traditions"?

Not sure about the other SCIAC schools, but for the last 5 years the Redlands football team has run around in their underwear after Oxy beat the pants off them.

I am pretty sure that the only school in the Northwest Conference that might have a similar tradition is Pacific.

Traditions yes. Each year beginning in the spring a 100 or so football players from each school dress up in costumes and begin beating the crap out of each other for a few weeks. Take a summer break then come back and beat the crap out of each other for a few more weeks. Then on each Saturday for 10 weeks or so, try to beat the crap out of another team. Then to cap it all off one team gets to go to a playoff game and get the crap beat out of them for one game. Then start planning for next years same results.  ;)

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Cal Lutheran's Jacob Calderon was named to the 2008 American Football Coaches Association Division III All-America Team.

QuoteThe SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year, Calderon led Division III in sacks with 12 in nine games and led the Kingsmen in tackles with 67.

I forget what that kind of argument was called in my Logic class ... but one's affinity for D-III football isn't necessarily tied to the record of one's alma mater.  After all ... I love D-III football ... and I graduated from the University of Dubuque.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

You know, some people on this board would consider that a threat and would suggest you need counseling.  I personally think you were just trying to be funny.

This just in:  Linfield to play at Oxy in 2009!  http://catdomealumni.blogspot.com/  This is great for both programs!
Go Cats!

SCIAC Fan

That's great thatLinfield is coming to SoCal to play Oxy. Oxy's been playing a lot of non-conference stiffs so congrats for stepping up in class.

That's a well-deserved honor for Jacob Calderon to be named an all-American by AFCA. Calderon's been the dominating force for the CLU defense for the past two years. Every opponent had trouble containing that guy.

I see that snoop is still being a turd...he has nothing else to do since his overhyped untalented son bombed at Redlands.
