i've spent a few hours at "Marios" on the south side. :)  Dont even know if its still there.

Congrats to the Kingsmen on the big win on Halloween night.

Out of curiousity, what's the SCIAC's tie-breaker in the event that Redlands (lost to Oxy), Oxy (lost to CLU) and CLU (if they lose to Redlands on 11/14) all end the season at 6-1?

Pages ago it was stated Rose Bowl rule and CLU would go...probably somewhere.

What happens if CLU beats Oxy then Redlands beats CLU and they all run the table with the rest of the schedule all with 1 SCIAC loss ?
I think we've had this conversation before. I believe if it's a 3-way tie then the no-repeat "Rose Bowl Rule" applies, and the conference AQ would go to the team which has not appeared in the D-III playoffs most recently. That would be CLU. Of course, the Kingsmen could end all doubt by beating both Oxy and Redlands.

Most of the team has traveled north to PLU and know what to expect on such a trip, except for playoff caliber team, of course.

If CLU (assuming they finish the job as they should) gets the NCAA to jockey up anything above a Greyhound bus for 16 hours straight to a playoff game, they will be smiling from ear to ear.

Though traveling in "luxury" by plane last year to face a lower caliber team in PLU, they traveled by bus to Willamette earlier this year to face what many would call a playoff caliber team. From what I hear (I couldn't have been happier to NOT be on that bus) it was pretty rough, so I think the travel will not be a factor for this team.

From being around them this year they are a team that will show and and play anywhere with intensity and speed - as long as they keep that up they will befine regardless where they are playing.

OK -- someone has to ask this:  "If you're blaming CAL Lu's loss this year at Willamette on a bus ride, how do you explain the score at Cal Lu last year?  (WU 31- CAL Lu 17)   Was there a major traffic jam or something?  Just wondering . . .

BTW, I watched the game at WU and it's the only decent match-up I saw them play all year besides the Linfield game.

Maybe the fact that those are two completely different teams from a different year?  Yeah I think that's how you explain it...

By your logic, how do you explain Willamette's loss to Linfield at home this year when they smashed the Wildcats on the road last year?  Teams change from day to day and week to week, not to mention over a whole year.

I kind of remember Mario's.  The bar we went to was the Jack Rose Bar.I was in Phg last year and the entire south side has been redone.  There are probably 10 to 15 bars along Carson St. and I think the locals now call it the "Bar Walk"  Its acurlly pretty nice.  Many different bars serving many different kind s of food, usually deep fried.   :D

The entire city has undergone a revamping and is really pretty nice.

I didn't blame the Willamette loss on a bus ride. The comment was made that long travel might affect CLU in a road playoff game because they haven't done that except against teams like PLU last year, and I reminded that they had a horribly long travel to Willamette, on a bus, this year. The point was: after a 16 hours bus trip, I think that with the NCAA flying them somewhere the travel will be an easy one in comparison.

Make Sense?

CLU lost to Willamette because Willamette had more points when the clock stopped ticking.

The second point was that Willamette is a good football team, a team that many think could be a playoff football team (not likely due to an early loss, but still very good). So when the comment was made that CLU has traveled lengths to play only teams like PLU, I simply reminded that we traveled a long length to play a top caliber team this year.

Simply enough – A trip to Linfield is a similar trip as a trip to Willamette, both in length and in the level of
competition they will face.

How a major traffic jam would attribute to a home loss baffles me so good question ... we walked to the field from the dorms, no need for a car there  ???. Come to think of it, there was some traffic in the line for bananas and oranges that morning in the caf so I guess that explains it.

Nice work.

+1 Kingsmen4.  Well said.

I was (trying) to make the point CLU has traveled (by plane) to the NW and it should not affect them.
A team like LINFIELD should.

It was a tough night for the team and photography . . .  Anyway, here are some images from Saturday's loss to Cal Lu:
