I'd really like to watch some video on youtube of you guys knocking down Brock Arndt all the time.   :)

If I had that I would have posted it a while ago, or made it my profile pic  ;D

We used to torment another pretty good D-end in practice all of the time, most of it wasn't legal though. I will see if I can get some video, Calderon will admit that we owned him.

BULLDOGALUM52

I don't think we will find videos of any Jesse Matlocks or Danny Hernadez's (who I played with in a High School All-Star game with) knocking anyone down.... :) Unless its one of those infamous chop block wide recievers are notorious for. I do think you'll find most UofR receivers don't do that, but there have always been a few exceptions.

The few times I did see Brock get knocked down was usually because he slipped, but I'd be surprised if you find film of him being knocked down. If you do, please share, I'd be more than happy to rub it in his face lol...

As far as our linebackers go, I do remember about two years ago a Mr. Kris Richardson, whose Dad is a Cal Lu alum, played linebacker at UofR, was a beast, but was always getting his legs takin out from him by down blocking receivers.... I doubt you guys will be able to catch a healthy Ian Sluss to do that though....I heard he runs about a 4.5 wind aided 40....

Good luck to all teams this week....

It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.

haha ya probably wouldn't find any of myself, unless there was a strong wind and a wet floor to help me out... DH on the other hand, If anyone has film of the 07' Oxy game, he put one of their linebackers on one of his many "bricks". Prob had a few against redlands too, he was a killer!

Tell them Stoonk about your boy DH! Hey Stoonk I need myself a new shirt to wear to the games you know anyone that could get me a purple tee?

Go LU

I almost wet myself from laughing so hard at that blog posting.

The best part:

Senior QB, Alex Rouch was recruited heavily by Division I schools during his senior season at Grandview Heights High School, where Rouch passed for over 4,000 yards en route to earning himself a spot on Ohio's All State team; one of the most prestigious All State rosters a recruit can land on. Instead of committing to a big time Division I-AA school, or a smaller FBS school, Rouch opted with the Division III Panthers because they offered the academics, and geographic locale Rouch sought necessary to pursue his dream of entering the entertainment industry.

While at Chapman, Rouch has starred in award-winning short films, wrote television pilots, performed on broadcast television, and interned for the director of the film Friday Night Lights, Peter Berg, who has been a mentor to Rouch.

Some on campus even point to Rouch's relationship with Berg as the indirect reason that Rouch was never given the chance to lead the Panthers.

Incredibly awesome.

Alex Rouch can be seen as the character "Heath" in this video, which was written and directed by the poster and blogger Jason Michael Brescia aka FunkFootball:

Yeah, the article is tongue and cheek, but Rouch is undeniably the Panthers most talented QB. Truth be told 95% of that article is more accurate that bias.

The Panthers are far from an elite program, but they do have talent. The school is bigger than the other SCIAC schools and also has a bigger endowment. Part of the reason why Chapman never wins is because of it's coach Bob Owens.

This past year many of the teams elite players quit, not to mention their QB issues have been awful.

Rouch should be starting. He's 6'3 with a big arm. The kid they have starting now is under 6 foot with an ok arm, poor vision, and an FB build.

Its not it's.

Bob Owens has been at Chapman since 2006. Chapman hadn't had back-to-back winning seasons since 1994-1996 before Owens did it in 2007-2008. The last time Whittier won the SCIAC was in 1997 and 1998. Who was the Poets' coach? Oh, right, it was Bob Owens.

You don't know what you're talking about.

This isn't high school....

From what Martin Scorsese, Jr. said about the incredible QB abilities of his pal, I figured that Rouch must have played some since he was at Chapman. I looked at the Chapman web site and checked the Panthers' statistics archives. 2007: No Rouch, 2008: No Rouch, 2009: No Rouch. I don't see any evidence that Rouch has been in a single game while he's been at Chapman.

Wrong. Pomona, Claremont and Oxy all have bigger endowments than Chapman, so stick it back in your pants.

Chapman's endowment is over 100 million bigger than Pomona's. So I guess I'll keep it out of my pants?

Also, Chapman recently built a 30 million dollar sports complex recently. Though it's not the most impressive in the conf. it still should warrant better than what it has produced.

Rouch didn't play from 06-08 because QB Eric Marty was actually a really good quarterback in that time span. The article mentions that; it also mentions the current state of the QB situation at Chapman. Compare Marty's numbers from last year to the numbers produced thus far; then note that all of the top receivers from last year are back this year.

The issue is obviously QB.

Finally, Bob Owens may have had success in the mid to late 1990's, but those were the mid to late 1990's. Notice that every other athletic program at Chapman has developed positively during the schools boom in attendance and financial growth this decade; besides football. Basketball, Lacrosse, and Baseball have all made significant improvement.

I'm not saying Owens is doing a bad job, I'm not saying he needs to get fired. I'm just saying they need to make a change at QB, and their current QB 2 needs to see playing time. He's been getting reps in practice, so it's not like this is some idiot frat guys trying to get their friend some playing time for fun. It's real Chapman fans trying to get the right QB in to win.

Let's try and keep it classy guys and not poke attacks at me for trying to share some relevant information about a team. If you don't believe there is real outcry for this position then come to the game this Saturday. I'll even personally greet you. You can see the awful QB play, and the "we want Rouch" chants for yourself.

Thanks guys.
