Actually, the SCIAC is undefeated against the NWC in home playoff games since that time.  So it's pretty even as far as I see it  ;)

Redlands 31, Linfield 28

(It's that time of year)

OK, not delusional . . . but not as slow on the uptake as you might think.  Given that you are learned member of the bar and an outstanding wordsmith . . . I took the "from now on in" with a bit of confusion since it is possible from this temporal point in time space for the Poets to upset the Tigers and the Dawgs to beat the Kingsmen which would give Redlands the playoff spot in light of their head to head victory over the Who in this scenario . . . thus my bit of confusion . . . since I didn't think you'd take much solace until it is a done deal and the refrigerator door is closed and the lights are turned off.

tooth
I don't think head to head is it.

From CLU
QuoteCal Lutheran (7-1, 5-0 SCIAC) earns at least a share of the SCIAC title with only one game remaining in the season. In 2007 the Kingsmen faced an identical scenario as CLU dropped its final game to Redlands and a Whittier upset of Occidental kept Cal Lutheran at home and still without an NCAA postseason appearance in the program's history.

"This is a much different group," said Coach McEnroe after taking the Kingsmen to a co-title in his first year at the helm that season. "That is ancient history...we don't even think about that anymore."

A victory next Saturday, November 14 at home against Redlands would squash any afterthoughts and secure the first outright conference title in Kingsmen football history, since Cal Lutheran joined the SCIAC in 1991.

Every year there are at least 3-5 reports of meteorites going through houses, so I believe your odds are off by a factor of several powers of ten.

While remote, your odds of Whittier winning are also no doubt off by several powers of ten.

(Only a few more powers of ten and Oxy might as well not even show up! ;D)

I guess the game against Whittier two years ago took place during a meteor shower. :'(

You would have been a great assistant to the legendary Roland Ortmayer of La Verne.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1068755/index.htm

This is worth the read.  He used to schedule three games he was likely to win,  three he was likely to lose, and three that were even, just to give his players all of these experiences.

Gray Fox:

Thanks for the Link.  Loved the article.  I didn't think anyone was on the same page as me, gotta love Ort's Coaching style.

am I delusional?

No, just slow on the uptake. Nothing ever changes.

Quote from: Pat Coleman on November 08, 2009, 04:25:14 PM
Not delusional, just misunderstanding what OB is getting at. He's saying that after Cal Lu gets in this year, Redlands will be the team of the three that has been out of the playoffs the longest.

That's why you are the Guru.

I was getting concerned that I might be on the same wavelength as OB.

I try. :)

Surely I missed those games with purple and cardinal glasses. What years were those games?

Nihon Tiger

Sorry, those are my PREDICTIONS, depending on who makes it.

Should have made that more clear.

Of course CLU has never made the D3 playoffs to even play Linfield, and I think I would've heard from RFB at some point if Redlands had ever beaten the purple country 'cats.

Sabretooth Tiger

I think Nihon is offering predictions of future games in projected playoffs, round 1.

As a SCIAC fan, I admire the optimism and can hope . . .

Having watched for a year or two . . . can't say I think either of our SCIAC colleagues headed to play at the Catdome will have the result that they want . . . and I'm presuming that Linfield has synched up and improved since it's visit to the Rock.
