Interesting look on some possibilities. Again, pure speculation but gives an idea of the if and when anyways...

There will probably be about 5 more of these before Sunday at 3pm.

MAKE IT EASY ON EVERYONE CLU, and do your job on Saturday!

Dear Oxy Bob - Never again please ^^^

Anyone headed to Thousand Oaks for the game Saturday, I encourage you to stop by Three Amigos for a burrito, or Allegro's for a slice of pizza/sub. If your really feeling like pre-gaming, stop into PJ's Pub for a cold one, or as STOONK would suggest, "a shot & a beer". You will find the usual Saturday afternooners, as well as the possibility of a few CLU alum getting warmed up for the game, playing some darts.

All three are located in the Rite Aid shopping center right next to campus. Just don't tell them you are from Redlands and you should be fine...  ;D

Spend a Friday and Saturday at CLU's campus and you would be hard pressed to want to go back to Eagle Rock (The arm pit of Pasadena), Redlands (San Bernardino...enough said), or Claremont (same story). Just my feelings

America's Ten Most Beautiful Campuses

See No. 4 on list.

If you like the architectural look of cinder block army barracks or a minimum security prison, then CLU is the place for you. As for Thousand Oaks, be sure and stop by the Civic Arts Plaza and get a look at "The Copper Curtain" affixed to the east side of the building facing the freeway. This marvel of modern art cost $150,000 and looks like the back of a refrigerator.

You can also visit the site of the Stagecoach Inn, which originally was a hotel, later moved to another location in 1965, and then burned down in 1970. It's designated by the City of Thousand Oaks as Historical Landmark No. 1.

Don't forget the "World Famous" Kettle Corn you can get at a CLU hoops game.  I guess it's not available to the rest of the country yet.

I think it is going to be a heck of a game this saturday in Thousand Oaks.  The #1 scoring offense vs. the #1 scoring defense...# 1 pass offense vs. the # 1 pass defense...# 2 rushin offense vs. the # 1 rushing defense.  Looks like a great match-up all around.  Good luck to all.

I thought we were trying to tell 1Buckeye some info on Claremont, not talk about how awesome our respective school is.  My short few sentences on Oxy were meant as an aside, not a complete shift in discussion to which SCIAC school is best.

That being said:

Hmm, I could take an easy pot shot at CLU's academic reputation (weak), campus (ugly), football facilities (crap), etc.  but that would be too easy, and I'm sure there are lots of awesome things to make up for it (good football team, close to the beach).  The only real thing I have against CLU and can't get over is this:

TAILGATERS CANT DRINK BEER IN THE PARKING LOT.

Your school is an abomination.   ;D

As for Redlands, by honest do you mean that Maynard told your son that they would never beat Oxy again?   ;)  Because that is brutal honesty.  Sorry that one was just too easy, couldn't hold back!

Any tailgater that can't evade THAT rule is not worthy of being called a tailgater. :o :D

Actually, I think we did have to re-shine the shoes last year, after your classless players took them to a party and drank beer out of them and god knows what else in '07.  Good thing no one posted those pictures on facebook.  Oh wait, they did.  Think our boys have forgotten that? Tell your guys to bring binoculars so they can get a good look at the shoes from the Whittier sideline, because you won't get closer than that.

You usually are a bit more tactful.  Have you been hitting the sake? :D

Hello Cal Lu,

I'm looking for a suggestion on where to tailgate at Cal Lu.  My 90 year old dad is here to see his grandson play.  He came all the way from Pennsylvania (Hershey).  Is there a parking lot close by where he doesn't have to walk too far.

I expect some jokes from you guys but if I could get one real answer I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you, "GO DAWGS"

No no sake on a Thursday morning at school... probably a combination of  too much coffee, having to teach an extra class, and Oxy's loss to CLU weighing on my psyche.  Once the weekend hits I'm sure I'll be a bit nicer!

I have to say the whole deal about Cal Lu not being a good school is pretty weak.  Obviously, Cal Lu is not on the same level at CMS, P-P and all mighty Oxy, but no SCIAC school is a joke.  ALL of the schools in the SCIAC are there for a reason.

I have no idea where you would think the campus is ugly.  Some of the old buildings are pretty bad, but there are a lot of new buildings there and the entire athletic facility is by far the top in the SCIAC, excluding football (obviously ;D).

Cal Lu is still a young school and will continue to build on its history, but I think the school has done a good job in 50 years.

No matter what the case is, looking forward to the game on Saturday.

Fear the Poet is a great person and just having fun with Oxy Bob.  Whatever the Poets did or did not do with the "Shoes"  has nothing to do with them.  Besides, the "Shoes" are not the property of either school.  You know how every Oxy team has handled them? Having spent some time at Oxy at football games and not even being able to go to the restroom without being harassed by crazed and rude Oxy students and basketball players, you should be careful at pointing a finger.

That loss still gets your goat. Still can't give the Poets their props for that game? Wow You can say whatever you want. Make all the excuses you want. The scoreboard does not lie. On that night, the Whittier Poets were better then Oxy. Time to let it go.

After your comments to Fear the Poet....As far as classless......

Young man, I'll leave it at that.........

You're right, but I couldn't think of anything to say about Claremont football other than the Stags have nice-looking uniforms.

One of the CLUers can correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a parking lot where you can tailgate that is right next to the field. It's located off South Campus Drive next to the Samuelson Chapel. On the map look for the lot between the stadium (28) and the chapel (42).

You can also bring your own chairs and sit along the sideline, one of the outstanding features of Mt. Clef Stadium.
