An Ohio school is the best possible choice if you want to be President (the state has produced 8) or an astronaut (24 including Neil Armstrong and John Glenn).  How about this: QB of a championship team, then astronaut, then run for President?

However, if he wants to be famous he should go to Oxy, then drop out or transfer after a year or two.  That's the career path of Ben Affleck, Luke Wilson, and Obama.

Snoop,
Saw this in the LA Daily News:

In other football news, Matt Wabby, a top quarterback at Pierce College who played at Crespi, is leaning toward signing with Div. III power Mount Union in Ohio.

Wc11.  That's a loaded question if there ever was one. He will have a better idea after visiting and meeting with the coahes. He will be going back when the weather breaks. He has a couple others to visit too.

:e is going to visit a couple d2's also.

I was surprised to see that in the paper. I was at a Crespi basketball game and the reporter asked me what Matt's options were. I had no idea it would end up in the paper.

Yeah that is loaded but it's a legit question...especially when MUC has 8 QB's returning on the roster.  If Mount is interested in talking with Matt then that's great...it just would be a hard decision to make with regard to having only 2 years left and the amount of competition there is in that program.

March 4, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) Tri-Cities Fever

Coach Adam Shackleford made his first big roster move today, announcing that Andy Collins will start at quarterback in the Tri-Cities Fever season opener Monday against the Fairbanks Grizzlies.

Collins is an indoor football veteran and that ultimately swayed Shackleford's decision in choosing the Zillah native over rookie Houston Lillard.

"With just two weeks of camp, I think Andy gives us the best chance to be successful right now," Shackleford said. "But Andy knows that his is going to be pushed all season."

Last season, Collins played in four games for the StocktonLightning of the arenafootball2 league before getting hurt. In his limited time, Collins threw for 931 yards and 18touchdowns. He also ran 25 times for 161 yards and seven more touchdowns. The 161 yards rushing turned out to be a team-high for the Lightning.

Collins, who is a three-time Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year at Occidental College, split time with the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League and the Lightning in 2008.

Question for D.O.C. and or OXY BOB

Did Wabby play at Redlands one year and why did he leave them and go to Pierce College J.C.?

A mover EH ---and wondering why he thinks he can make it bigtime at Mount Union who has at least 7 QB;S on roster now.Perhaps he is looking to start at QB for the Mount Union  J.V.team that also plays a 10 game schedule. Sounds like his dad just wants him in a championship atmosphere. Many players at Mount  seek same scene that never made it to the MUC  varsity-----but got championship  rings---but  only if they paid for them !

Thanks for the update on Andy Collins. Great player, hope he has an injury-free season. Speaking of living in the past Go San Jose SabreCats!

first of all, the school my son chooses is his decision. He only has two years left so he has to make the right choice. What competetive athlete wouldn't want a chance to play for a National Title?  After watching his film he has been told that he will be given a fair chance to compete. He is also considering other d3 schools and has offers from d2's. He is going to make some visits then decide.

Why did he leave Redlands?  He was told he wasn't good enough to play there. He felt differently. So did many others. That's the past and he is looking forward to enjoying the next two years playing somewhere, getting his degree and......finally going to work.

Now give me a break.

Here we go again. First off, Matt Wabby is a very good quarterback. Unfortunately, Redlands was not the right fit for him, it happens guys. Lets leave the kid alone and let him move on with his life.

Snoop, I like you and respect you. We have talked offline many times and your support and love for your son is not in doubt. But you CANT win here on this board or any other board. You're getting baited and I know you want to defend Matt but it is time to take a back seat. His success will do the talking for you.

Fear the Poet

snoop,

Best of luck to Matt, whatever he decides to do..I will be rooting for him
