In his three seasons with the Panthers the offense averaged over 42 points per game and ran off a 26-4-1 record.

Too bad he wont have anymore DI football programs to raid after they drop football.

"Our goal is to compete for a SCIAC championship and I feel we have hired someone in Greg that will have our offense prepared to play each and every game," stated Coleman.

Ha! Thanks for the laugh today.

Using these players to run up scores may be one of the historical reasons Chapman didn't get to join the SCIAC.

We tied them 14-14 in 1994 with all of their DI bouncebacks from Fullerton. I'm confident we would heave beat them if the OT rule was in place. The game was at Redlands and we were pretty stacked that year.

Just for the boast that will, would never happen...LINFIELD would not blink at playing a DI team the likes of what Cal-State Fullerton was their last couple of years, especially in the 'Catdome.

D.O.C./Coco... do either of you remember what affiliation Hawaii had back when Linfield last played them probably around '69 ?

I assume from the following on their web site, they were DII and it was 1972 for Linfield's last game..

In 1973,
Hawai'i recorded
its biggest upset in
school history, with
a 10-7 road victory
over the Pacific-8
Conference's Washington Huskies, who were
favored by as many as 50 points. Harold Stringert
intercepted three passes and lineman Levi Stanley
had 11 tackles in the victory. The Rainbows won
its first eight games that season and was ranked
as high as No. 5 in the weekly Division II poll.

Linfield did beat Hawaii, 15-13 in 1967 in the first meeting between the two schools, it was the first of six games between the two schools, all at Hawaii. The
host school won the next five games, barely winning against the Wildcats 19-17, in 1970. The 1967 upset  by Linfield was big, that Hawaii team may have been D2, but it had something like 15 times larger the student population, and the Rainbow Warriors had some D1 players on that squad, including Larry Cole of the Dallas Cowboys.  The Hawaii trips also helped raise the visibility of Linfield in the islands, and the Wildcats have had many players over the decades from the state of Hawaii.

Hey why don't you guys take this over to your own board?

The discussion on the SCIAC board is at a much higher level. :)

Here's a SCIAC question for Oxy fans. What did the Tigers uniform look like before the current look, and how long has this present uniform been used? No offense to Oxy, they have a quality program, but uniforms could be improved. I feel the same way about Puget Sound in the NWC.

Is the current Oxy uniform reflective of another time in Tiger football? Usually, you only see that type of minimalist look with programs like Penn State and Alabama, for example.  There must have been a time when Oxy had a logo on the helmet, and orange played a bigger role in the uniform.

If the minimalist look is the sign of a successful program ( as in Penn State and Alabama), then Oxy should keep the look. I have always been a believer in buying uniforms off the shelf and spending the money where it can do more good.

If you have a good program, you don't need to decorate the cake!

Words Coach Widolff would agree with.  Older uniforms had more orange, with decals on the helmets.  Probably changed around the time our illustrious current head coach arrived.  Don't look for anything different in the foreseeable future.  I believe the small orange "O" on the collar was a major concession.

Linfield has kept their basic look over the decades, the mid 70s to mid 90s uniforms included striping on the pants and jersey. Purple pants were introduced in the late 90s, and the helmet decal has been around since 1963.

IMHO $.02....

as long as Andy Collins was running around in the minimalist look it worked just fine.  :)
Black on black at a home game is a visual advantage in the corners, no?

I vote for the current look.
