I know this might get some biased answers but I am going to be in Pasadena for three days and know I'll be pretty close to most of the SCIAC schools.  I'd like to hit a campus or two if I have some spare time.  Anyone have any recommendations for campus visits?
No need to visit anywhere else. Just Head north east to the lu. I bet security could provide a private tour on their new uber-expensive and extremely unnecessary segways that they roam the streets on, intimidating all criminals in sight.

Cal Lutheran is worth a visit if you want to see some classic 1950s cinder block construction.

Fire proof, but not so easy on the eye. Not to mention our old basketball gym was a empty airplane hanger. I thought Vintage was in???

ATTENTION CITIZENS OF CALIFORNIA: LINFIELD WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED!!!!

I watched the whole damn thing waiting for the Linfield football punch-line . . . live and learn.
I think that was the Linfield valedictorian.  :o
He was a geology major.  His name is Rocky.

You forgot to post this to drive it home:  RIMSHOT

reality check

Back from a great quick trip though SoCal.  I really enjoyed my visits to Oxy, the Claremont Colleges and Redlands.  I dropped in relatively unannounced and everyone was so hospitable.  Oxy's campus was magnificent and I snagged a cap in the bookstore.  The entire Claremont Colleges situation was so foreign but enlightening.  I still can't wrap my head around 7 separate colleges operating on top of each other although Coach Candaele did his best to break it down for me.  It was neat to see the proximity of the two stadiums and to think about the shortest away game in college football.  Redlands has a beautiful campus as well and some really nice facilities.  Thanks to all the coaches that were so hospitable.  The SCIAC has some wonderful programs and more importantly wonderful people developing those young men.

On a Thurs at noon two different maintenance guys were working on the field so it appears they take care of it.  Keeping in mind that Redlands is most like the desert weather that I'm used to in Arizona, I think they do a nice job.  Turf is a blessing and a curse when you have 100 degree summer days.  Weather can be "too hot" for turf.

Any opinion on the Redlands natural grass?

Well maintained and plays very fast. Field turf was looked at as an option when the all weather track was installed a few years ago but was turned down. I'm really glad they decided to stay with natural grass.

Kelly Cooper head up grounds maintenance and does a fantastic job. He was also an all conference linebacker who I played with in the early 90's.

Reality Check, glad you were able to see some of the SCIAC schools and their facilities.

Add August heat and some smog and fall camp in Redlands is just lovely.

I asked a leading question, I suppose, because IMHO that turf is great.

Now if the team could only take a page fom the Dallas Cowboys and hold camp in Thousand Oaks.   :-*

There is a measure on the November state ballot to legalize it.

That will never happen, though we wouldn't mind beating them up during camp too. The main issue would be the excessive dog barking noises due to the fact that most of their fall camp is spent practicing their pre-game whoof-whoof chants.
