With Claremont and Pomona-Pitzer playing at the same time Saturday night, does anybody try to hit both games?  Do they let people reenter the stadiums without making a big deal of it?

There's no charge to get in, so you can walk back and forth between the two fields as many times as you like. Claremont's field is more fan friendly; you can bring a stadium chair and sit on the grassy knoll next to the visitor stands. (By the way, it's Zinda Field not Zapruder Field.) You can't do that at Pomona, so I always set up my chair outside the fence under the tree past the west end zone.

Claremont is 3-0. The Stags haven't started a season with three straight wins since 2002, when they won their first seven games before losing the last two to Pomona and Redlands. On the other hand, Pomona is 0-3. The Sagehens have given up 139 points and 1,565 yards in three games, and are ranked last in D-III in total defense.

Oct. 9 schedule:

Oxy (2-1) @ La Verne (0-3) 1:00 p.m.
Redlands (2-1) @ Pomona (0-3) 7:00 p.m.
Chapman (1-2) @ Claremont (3-0) 7:00 p.m.
Cal Lutheran (2-1) @ Whittier (1-2) 7:00 p.m.

Fear the Poet

I made it to the Whittier-Oxy game at halftime. I was running late from the Bruin game. It was nice to see the Poets competitive with a good team. The Poets seem to have improved quite abit from what Im used to seeing and thats great.

Oxy did not appear to have the talent that Ive seen in the past from them.

It was a sloppy game, but an emotional one. Very fun to watch ....until the end :)

I have hit both a couple of times.  Last year Claremont vs UPS and Lewis and Clark vs Pomona Pitzer had an hour staggered start time so Doc, Pat, and myself caught the first half of Claremont UPS then hit LC and PP.  Those were day games so the best was yet to come as we headed down the 210 and and caught a great Linfield vs Occidental classic.

I hit some range balls off of my property and into the sound.  Again I will be great on dog leg left holes--Lefty slice action.  Let Motor know to bring "The Wedge" to the BWC

If Redlands wins out (w/ no SCIAC title) is there still no shot at a pool C playoff bid?

If PLU pulls a freak move and loses only 1 game to Linfield do they have a shot at the Pool C spot?

Or are these both totally out of the question...The only reason it seems reasonable is because of the seeminlgy stronger presence of the mid level teams in the NWC and SCIAC, and the overall higher rankings this year for multiple NWC and SCIAC teams... Maybe they get more respect in an at large or is it going to be business as usual with the first round NWC/SCIAC winners and no more?

Just seems like with the upsets that it makes the top 2 stand out less, making way for a possible other if it plays out as planned for them...

PLU might have a shot but strength of schedule would be pretty weak (remember it's who you beat not who you lose to that is really important).  Same goes for Redlands.  From a NWC poster's standpoint we'd love for Redlands to go with one loss and get snubbed from the playoffs to pay back Maynard's snubbing of Whitworth (the NWC champ) a few years ago (prior to the autobid in the NWC).  On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing Redlands make it and have to play against Linfield so we could remind them why the stopped answering our call.....either way is fine with me :)
Go Cats!

I think that you need a better showing by ETBU to help the Redlands' OWP.  ETBU stunk it up with a loss to Texas Lutheran, after their win at UW-Lacrosse. UWL is 0-4 with a loss to ETBU, to UMHB, to D-2 Missouri S&T and to UWO.

We can see how many one-loss teams there are around the country.  Right now, I see Hardin-Simmons as the best Pool C candidate in the South Region.

The ODAC may have a Pool C team, either Randy Mac or Hampden-Sydney.  Root for one of them to get a second loss.

W&L, in the Presidents AC, already has 2 in-region losses.

The SCAC is too weak to get a Pool C bid, as is the USA South.

The Wesley/Salisbury loser may contend for a B/C.

That is a South Region Pool C rundown.

The BPD3 Level System Top 25 unveiled:

NOTE:
BPD3 Level System Top 25
To add to the intrigue and fun of the ranking system, I am creating "Levels" within the Top 25. In the "Level System", I will be grouping teams that are reasonably comparable in my opinion and exposing where I believe there is a drop-off of some kind between ranks.

Is there anyone "intruding" on Level 1 with UW-W and Mount Union?

Where do the "breaks" occur between levels?

Where does Cal Lu fall?

bleedpurple, helmets off to you for having the fortitude to use your spare time so wisely.

Now about Mosier....the question was asked on the boards 'why did he not play against Redlands?' and there has not been an answer.  I tried to do my own footwork but the Solutes site on the pre-game was not helpful.
So, what happened to the Junior College transfer who showed up the vaunted LINFIELD defense for 202 yards in one half and then proceeded to nick the Nolutes for 126?  Hmmmm?

Tough loss for the Bulldogs, turnovers were too costly in the end..hats off to the Who, however I think Redlands has an outside shot to go into the Playoffs.

From the sports guy at the Redlands Daily Facts:

QuoteI think the University of Redlands football team is going to be kicking itself all season for letting a win slip through their fingers Saturday night.

Anyone that follows the Bulldogs knows that the most important games on the SCIAC schedule are Cal Lutheran and Occidental and with both of them being played at Ted Runner Stadium this year, everything seemed to be set up for them this year.

But in a game in which they trailed by 12 at halftime before rallying to take a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, U of R could not close it out.
...

..if the season ends with Redlands staring up in the standings like it has the past couple years, I think they're going to look back on this past Saturday's game and wonder "What if?".
