DawgHeaven,

Please enlighten me with your source when you state "They (Cal Lu ) will no longer be the academic doormat of the conference."

It appears that you are implying that Chapman would become the bottom school of the SCIAC  academically IF they were to become a member.

I would be very interested in reviewing your source.

Thank you in advance.

Of course Cal Lu wants Chapman in the conference.  They will no longer be the academic doormat of the conference.

Don't kid yourself. Unless your degree says Pomona, Claremont, or maybe even Occidental on it you probably have no more prestige than any other private school in So Cal.

Redlands doesn't exactly pop eyeballs out when you mention where you went to college - "you mean where we stopped for gas on the way to Palm Springs?"

:D

Chapman may not be on par with Cal Tech, Claremont, Pomona, Occidental academically  but they can hold their own with other SCIAC schools like Whittier, La Verne, Redlands, Cal Lu.

Athletically they can complete with all teams in all sports but have problems with the BIG 3 in football of course. To me it is a perfect fit and can be a good thing for the conference and the other teams in the conference. Chapman I know has also focus in recent years in raising the academic standards with both the students and faculty. They also have continue to invest money in the campus on new buildings and upgrades and new facilities.

They still need to upgrade some of their athletic venues but are land locked and some of ther facilities they use are not on Chapman owned property which makes upgrades difficult. Some of the venues are better than some SCIAC teams and some are not.

I hope they let Chapman in! Just so CrashDavisD3 can finally give up the "Chapman in SCIAC" campaign....lol
It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.

D O.C.

I want Chapman to qualify for the SCIAC...if it means co-eds from all schools can then run in their underwear down to the circle fountain.

This tells me nothing. Last week I interviewed two candidates for an entry level engineer position. One graduated from Stanford and the other from San Diego State.

The graduate from San Diego State ran circles around the Stanford graduate on multiple levels. Guess who got the offer? My company and many others nationally are starting to look past the paper of where you graduated from. It's a growing trend that is here to stay.

If any Oxy fans are going to the Chapman game Saturday night, here are a few directions that might eliminate some confusion:

Coming from LA area, exit the 57 FWY at Orangewood (just past Angel Stadium) and go left (east). Orangewood turns into Walnut. Follow Walnut just past Glassell and the stadium is on the right. Enter the parking structure. When exiting the parking structure on the south end, GO LEFT. Visitors seating is on the east side of the stadium. I have seen tailgating in the parking lot next to the visitors seating.

After the game you can meet your players at the SW corner of the stadium where the players enter the field.

Old Town Orange is a short 2 blocks south of the campus on Glassell and offers many reasonably priced eating establishments.

I suggest that you arrive early for good seating as both sides of the stadium have been at or near capacity all season.

Your Redlands pal DawgHeaven shot off his yap about Chapman. He said if admitted to the conference CU would be the academic doormat of the SCIAC. Turns out that numbers-wise Chapman has higher academic standards than Redlands. Chapman may not get into the SCIAC, but if it does it'll enhance it academically, and make up for Redlands' apparent deficiencies.

Otherwise known as a cold, drafty hallway. Unlike everywhere else on Earth, no one's allowed to walk on Chapman's precious field.

Au contraire, Mssr. OB, it is a little known fact that if you wear a soccer uniform, complete with shoes, they will let you on the field after the game.

As announced by the NCAA Division III Football Committee on Wednesday afternoon, the University of Redlands Bulldogs land seventh in the rankings for the West Region.

Head Coach Mike Maynard stated, "We're glad to be considered in the playoff mix, but it is more important that we focus on becoming the best team we can be each week. This is our most important priority."

The rankings include all results through Sat., Oct. 23, when the Maroon and Gray trounced the visiting Tigers of Occidental College in a 51-7 Homecoming victory at Ted Runner Stadium.

Boasting an overall and in-region record of 5-1, Redlands sits just one spot behind Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe Cal Lutheran University, which owns the same records.

According to Maynard, these are the first and only regional rankings for the 2010 football season.

As listed on the NCAA web site, the complete rankings for the West Region are listed below.

WEST REGION     In-Region Record    Overall Record
1. St. Thomas (MN) 8-0 8-0
2. Wisconsin-Whitewater 4-0 7-0
3. Wartburg 7-0 7-0
4. Coe 4-1 6-1
5. Bethel (MN) 6-1 6-1
6. Cal Lutheran 5-1 5-1
7. Redlands 5-1 5-1
8. Linfield 5-1 5-1
9. Pacific Lutheran 4-1 5-1
10. Central (IA) 7-1 7-1

The Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 SCIAC) head to the University of La Verne for a SCIAC showdown against the Leopards at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

And by "showdown" you mean in the same vein as when an infirm and dying Leopard is taken to the vet (Redlands) to be put down?
;) ;D

So what do these regional records tell us?  If the playoffs started today, who is in and what are the matchups?

Hell, I'll be the first to admit........."I have no idea what any of this means"!  I'm waiting for all the old timers (no offense, I'm probably the same age), but I have no experience in how the NCAA works and how this info is analyzed.  I just posted the info I received...... and am now waiting for everyone to post their theories and opinions so I can hopefully gain some knowledge!
