D O.C.

I can't + you any more today.

You know I want Redlands to visit the CATDOME instead of the boring 'ol solutes again. They keep screwing up though.

Speaking of that...if both Cal Lu and Redlands win out, who heads where?  (I do realize it is very early for this kind of talk, but a general idea?)

I'd prefer one of them come to Belton. ;)

I was just looking at the box scores for the SCIAC games yesterday and it is pretty sad that 3 of the 4 games had under 1,000 people.

Oxy at P-P= 747
Whittier at Chap= 3132
Redlands at Claremont= 512
Cal Lu at ULV= 827

That is an average of 1,304 fans per game, but if you take out the Whittier/Chapman game it is 695 fans.  That is just plain sad.  Any high school game in the world will get more that that and it sucks to see the # 15 team in the nation play in front of 512 fans and the #13 team play in front of 827.

*I do realize they are probably counting tickets or what not and some people might have got in but it's not like 2,000 people snuck in.

Jack;
747 at PP is pretty good. Most of those were probably OXY fans. PP has no admission, so it is a guess.
ULV has very limited seating, so that was probably a sell out.
The CMS/Redlands game attendance was a surprise, no admission and Redlands usually has a very good following. Maybe the Bulldogs fans did not think it would be worth it, I don't know.
Chapman's count is pretty accurate, as they are on a ticket basis for all admissions. It was also CU's homecoming.

But, you do bring up an interesting point, for which I don't have the answer. I wonder how the audio, live stats and video available over the internet is affecting attendance. Do those bring in remote fans or are people staying home and listening/watching so they can follow more games
or save money? Anyone have any comments?

Pomona loves the number 47.  It might have been 4700.

I think Pomona once led the D-III nation in attendance.

And the Chapman web site says that its stadium capacity is 2,000, not 3,132.

Chapman installs temporary seating on the visitor's side during the season.

Redlands at Claremont= 512

Pretty sure there were more than that, but it was a definitely a small.  Perhaps because it is fall break at the Claremont Colleges, so a lot of students weren't around.

Exciting battle for The Drum last night . . . just like a rivalry game should be.  The game was nowhere near the offensive track meet that the box score suggests.  Although the game will be remembered for the great 2 minute drill that Collis and Co. executed to win the game, Oxy's D deserves a lot of love as well for the many defensive stands they made throughout the night.

CMC is on fall break.  The other home game this season (vs. Pacific) drew well over 1000 featuring a non-conference opponent, and I suspect Redlands would have drawn considerably higher if there were students around.
