Let's hope our Bulldogs get the playoff spot they deserve. The West Region deserves more respect. I'm hoping for a Redlands v Cal Lutheran rematch!

I knew the Chapman game wasn't going to be pretty, but at least now Redlands' playoff bid is in the lap of the gods. Whatever, thanks for a fantastic 8-1 season with some brilliant moments and a gallant effort against Cal-Lu. The Kingsmen are in the midst of humiliating Oxy today.

I read an article in the San Berdoo Sun and the writer (sorry I don't remember his name) seems to think that our Bulldogs will get a bid if they beat Chapman, which they did. He broke it down statistically and had me convinced.

Rah, Rah, Redlands!

Last I heard, Pac 12, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, Big East all get rings for a conference championship.  Too bad the SCIAC isn't as weak as the NWC.  Linfield is great, but the rest of the conference is like the WAC.

Seriously?
This year NWC is 5-6 vs SCIAC with a wide range of teams playing each other, pretty close this year.
In the "modern" era of d3 the NWC is 6-0 against the SCIAC in the playoffs, with 3 schools from each having been participants in those games.
Additionally the NWC has 2 National Championships from two different schools, SCIAC has zero.

I think the NWC has clearly been the better conference historically.  But what do I know.......I only have one ring (and it ain't from a conference championship).

p.s. I'm pulling for Redlands to make the playoffs.  I think they deserve it.  Hopefully they have the one thing that my Lutes where lacking when they got screwed last year, that being your big win over another ranked team.  Good Luck (except against the NWC)

Just checked the sagacious D3 Playoff Bracketology of "Coleman The Magnificent" and his merry band of Entrails-readers---Redlands' supporters will be keeping multiple fingers crossed that this time the D3football.com soothsayers have got it right with their forecast of a rematch at Cal-Lu.

After Kingsmen annihilating Oxy at Patterson Field and despite Dawgs playing below-par on the road, yet again, against Chapman, this would be an epic encounter of two proud football programs.  8-)

Hemingway, you already used "sagacious" this week but I like the "entrails readers".  That's much more creative than other options (e.g. tea leaf readers, bone readers, etc.)--nice one!  :)

So I logged onto oxybroadcast.com yesterday afternoon to catch a few minutes of Craig Dunkin & Co., but the game wasn't on, thank God. Oxy gave up 70 points?! What the heck was going on? Was the field frozen? Were the Tigers not wearing the right shoes? Sheesh.

Two SCIAC teams in the playoffs? I doubt it. Despite PC's prognostications, I don't think the NCAA will vary from its yearly pattern of sending the SCIAC champ to play the NWC champ. Apparently CLU's not looking forward to that prospect, at least according to the CLU SID:

Quote
The Kingsmen, whom have won 20 straight SCIAC games, are hoping they have done enough to warrant hosting a first-round game in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
...

CLU's only loss this season came in the opening game against Linfield, which has beaten CLU in the first round of the NCAA playoffs the last two seasons.

But if the Kingsmen can avoid drawing Linfield for a third straight time, they believe they have a good chance of hosting a first-round playoff game at their new stadium.

Who not whom.

Besides the fact they've already played once up in Oregon, Cal Lutheran really believes it deserves a home game in its beautiful new stadium.

By the way, I had to feel a little bad for Occidental. It sound like CLU ran up the score, but it was really Oxy self-destructing. A fumble on the opening kickoff led to a 22-yard TD drive for CLU; then Oxy lost another fumble that was returned 47 yards for a TD, and threw an interception that led to a 46-yard drive and a third fumble that led to a 16-yard drive. They also gave up punt returns of 23 and 18 yards that led to drives strating in Oxy territory. Cal Lutheran had only two lengthy drives in the entire first half. Lautenslayer threw only nine passes, none after the second play of the second quarter; Mosier came out of the game with about 10 minutes to go in the seond; and all the starters were with 8:04 to go to halftime.

You should be more concerned that there is an ex-CLU placekicker who's going around claiming that he was a football player.

OxyBob

I believe that would be me, thanks to Kingsmen4 for the back up.

Normally when ALL AMERICAN follows your name you don't have concerns with those claims.

Funny coming from someone that used to post regularly about the famed Oxy punters. But hey who is counting?  ;)

Wow, 70 pts OB?   ;D  Did the CLU faithful outnumber OXY fans again like 2009 in the first "white out"?

Waiting to see ESPN News announce Redlands coming back to "Mt Clef 2.0" - Kingsmen4

Speaking of the article on the CLU web-site, I find it a little pathetic that the Ventura County Star has a reporter "cover" the game and all she (an assumption by the name) does is add one opening sentence and change a few words int he story and it is published as hers.  Is that a standard thing to do?

I would love to see this but I don't know if Redlands did enough against the lower level teams in the sciac to deserve a spot.  close games with oxy and claremont as well as a nail bitter with chapman could hurt (all teams CLU destroyed).  Only a few minutes away!  Good Luck puppies...feels good to know you will see your name....
