How many SCIAC programs have more than 100 kids on their roster?

I personally feel like being able to recruit and sustain a larger program is a big bonus. In DIII you have a lot of kids that develop into great players. But they're tougher to gauge coming out of high school than those big DI recruits. If you look at some of the retrospective recruiting that rivals will post every so often, you quickly realize that they don't miss too often on the big names. But who's going to predict that a 6'3-6'4 215 lb HS senior is going to turn into a 6'7 260lb NFL TE prospect who runs a 4.7 (Michael Allen)?

Now I know this isn't a steadfast rule. Hardin Simmons brought 200 kids into camp and are 0-2...but generally, the more kids you have, the more likely it seems that your program stays consistent from year to year. And of course, the less likely injuries will affect your team.

whittiers d looks pretty bad, the o has some good skill players but they always seem to disappear against good defenses

believe me dad, Ive seen what you are referring to in my sons first go around, but this offense is much deeper than anything Ive seen at whittier. Schulock was a one man show a few years back..these guys are at least three strong recievers deep and RBs and QB are more than solid. Time will tell I guess, but we are optomistic with how things went in camp and the fire the guys have shown to date.

I think the Poets are moving in a positive direction for sure....

I have to agree with FTP.  I think Whittier is going to surprise a lot of people this year.  They may not be a powerhouse but they'll prove to be competitive.
(Oh and as a mom of one of those D line players I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree cludad on your statement that their "D" looks pretty bad)

DAW,let me clarify my comment, the secondary looked bad ,i saw guys running wide open alot.giving up 400 yds passing and 30 1st downs is really not a steller job.while the line might of played well, this is a team sport.

CLU 107
Redlands 105
Chapman 93

If a coach can recruit whoever he wants without an admissions officer looking over his shoulder then he's going to have more (and better) players. It's perfectly fine if the school wants to be known for that. Some SCIAC schools turn out US presidents, others turn out for football practice.

I'd venture a guess that not one of the 107 CLU players could get into Pomona.
You really have to play that card? This isn't Quiz Bowl.

It's not like I compared CLU to UW-Whitewater, where all you have to do to get in is breathe on a mirror to prove you're alive.

So Whittier is the standard?

His ability to bring in talent and his game plans have been great, but I think the biggest improvement is simply the facilities.

CLU has a great team. It has a nice new field. It also has 107 players on its roster. By contrast, Pomona has 53, and I'd venture a guess that not one of the 107 CLU players could get into Pomona.

You're way off on Rich Rider. He's won 432 career games, and he's 287-165 (.635) at CLU.

Could be right ... I would think maybe 5-10% of the guys could, but even so ... if being a part of a successful program is important in addition to being a top tier student they probably don't see the draw to Pomona.

I would venture to guess that not one of the 53 Pomona players could start at CLU (including Sweeny, the All American RB).

Within College Football there is College (Pomona), Football (UWW), and a mixture of the two (Most other schools). Oxy used to tout both, then they started losing to Pacific.

That's the unfortunate part of the NESCAC not participating in the football postseason because it would be interesting to see if they would dominate as they do other sports further proving it doesn't have to be one or the other.

Does CLU have the same qb they had last year?......I remember that guy was big and hard to take down. Looking forward to the game this weekend. Should be a challenge for both teams!

Thanks madzillagd.....I find this interesting from the preview:
QuoteThey will open holes for freshman tailback Romello Goodman, the 2011 top high school rusher in California.
Wouldn't the #1 high school rusher in CA be like a 5 star PAC 12 recruit? What's that?
