RFB: Whittier is struggling in the last decade but history doesn't lie

Whittier- 26 SCIAC Championships
Redlands- 28 SCIAC Championships

Never knew a "joke" program could compete with a so called "established" program in SCIAC Championships.

As we traveled that area the traffic was unbelievable......they were just pulling the Space Shuttle Endeaver into the parking lot next to the museums that are next to the sports complex.

Christopher Columbus discovered America in less time than it took to cart the Space Shuttle from LAX to Exposition Park.

But Chris wasn't dealing with LA 2 mph traffic. ;)

Oh, please, spare us. Including WC's 2-3 record so far this year, going back 20 years to 1992, Whittier's record is 50-135, with only 2 winning seasons ('97 and '98) during that stretch.

Bro, you are reaching way too much right now.  Here is what I would say is a joke...Whittier goes 7-2 in '98 and a perfect 6-0 in the SCIAC, then turns around in '99 and ends up a perfect 0-9 and 0-6 in the SCIAC.  They have been terrible ever since.  An establised program equals success year after year, not just every once in a long time.  Winning 2 SCIAC titles over the past 30 years is nothing to brag about.  I look at Redlands and see an established program after what they have done over the past 20-30 years, not because they have the #2 "O" in the country right now after playing a bad schedule and is still only 2-3.  I think Cal Lu is obviously on it's way to becoming a very established program but what happens with 1 bad year?  Say Cal Lu ends up going 4-5 next year, everyone will say they had a good run and now they are back to the starting line.  I don't see that happening, but you get my point.  Established=Consistency, not 5 coaches in 16 years.  Oxy was solid as a rock in the 2000's but has really struggled lately.  They are now searching to get back to that level.

As I said before, start with winning the "easy" games like ULV (which you didn't) and go from there.  Don't pound your chest because of the offense, try putting a defense thats worth a damn on the field and win against legit competition.  Unitl Whittier can compete with the middle of the pack SCIAC teams, they will always be looked at by everyone as Sh*ttier.

Somewhere on a fancy yacht off the Southern California coast Snoop Dawg is reading WCAlum17's posts and is saying "This guy is delusional."  Then he proceeds to cut a check to Redlands for the tuition that's left to pay for his "daughter".

WC11,
+k
A slight correction.  The guy with the daughter was "dawgs go deep" aka "dawg gone it" ;D
The recent discussion on CLU transfers reminded me of his daughter's "friend" who went from Redlands to Pierce College to Western Carolina.  Snoop Dawg is not on a yacht, but is checking out Mt. Union to see if his real daughter can be a "cheerleader" there.
P.S. I love the good old days.

I cant argue with Whittier's success, or lack thereof in the last whatever number of years, but I can say that there are good kids and young men on the team now who are working their butts off trying to get better. If they can clean up the penalties they have a shot to give the big boys a game in SCIAC

Time will tell if they do get any better, but Ill be rooting for them all the way.

..its easy being a frontrunner, you Cal Lu guys are starting to sound like Yankee fans ..haha

Oh man, if that's the case I need to unplug for good!

I am not bashing anything other than what WC 17 is saying.  Comparing Whittier to Redlands is just silly.  Obviously they have some athletes with the numbers they are putting up but they will never succeed against an "o" like CLU's or Redlands' if they continue to defend like they have this year.  I would much rather see them get better so the entire conference looks better.  Look at the NWC right now, Linfield, Willamette and PLU are all pretty solid.  Chapman is 4-1 and not even a sniff of a vote in the Top 25, which is because the rest of the SCIAC is pretty down.

FtP, my son is 21 yrs old and has played football since he was 9.Until he came to CLU he played on 1 team with a winning record (6-4),so this is all new to both us. Winning is alot more enjoyable than the other.I do think a little swagger comes with the success Clu has had in the last few years(until we play linfield :'() but never over confident. The d-3 experience has been an awesome ride ,one that I am really sad to see come to an end this year, but count me as a huge fan of all these young men and the teams they play for.

Not really. The Yankees have actually won championships. It's been a long time since the SCIAC even won a first-round playoff game.

Yep- There is that swagger of being a member of a winning team. Of Course, us dad types get to vicariously swaqger through the efforts of our children. The desire to play at the next level and continue playing for four more years is something that cant be measured.

are you kidding? Im the king of vicariously living through my kids ..ha

We are just happy the kid has the opportunity to come back and finish his playing days on his own terms. Glorious times indeed, regardless of win-loss records. Im soaking up every last last second of it.

Whittier is BAD. Sorry, but they have been for as long as I remember ... seriously laughable. Spurlock was the only bright spot of their recent past. The reason they are not liked in the SCIAC (and trust me other teams do not like them and lack respect for them) is because of how they carry themselves. Whittier always had quit in them, nothing better than dropping huge points on them and watching them fold ... and they would still be talking S*** like they were in the game.

Their false sense of swagger is why they are a joke to me, and I am not the only one that feels that way obviously. Sucks for the guys on their team that have to deal with the other players and coaches that could not / can not live up to their talk.
