RFB ... The Runner is dated and over rated. You are a homer and I get it ... If Mt. Clef was still around I would talk like it was the coolest place to play in the world too because that's how I felt. When I say facilities, I am talking stadium, locker room, weight room, coaches offices, etc. If you took a tour of what CLU has now ... there is no way you can compare the two.

ALSO: Coach Mac is a much better coach, recruiter, etc., etc., etc. than Maynard.

From a fan standpoint, Mt. Clef was the best place to watch a game in the SCIAC. Where else could you set up a beach chair and a cooler on the sidelines and watch the game? The new stadium is nice but it's just not the same.

With Mt. Clef gone, Claremont is the best place to watch a game. You walk in, and set up your chair and cooler under the trees on the hill overlooking the visitors side. Very nice. Pomona is a great place to watch a game. You set up your chair and cooler in the shade outside the fence beyond the tree in the west end zone. Very nice. Oxy, Chapman and La Verne are all the same to me: No place to sit except in the stands, far away from the field, and you can't even walk on the precious fake grass/turf, especially at Chapman, where they would have an alligator-infested moat encircling the field in they could get away with it. Redlands and Whittier? Meh and bleh.

It's shinny and new but I don't think it's a great layout.  With both of those end zones being closed off with that short fence and giant wall it creates a separated feel to the place.  The stadium seating was much smaller than I expected too.

they want to put more seating in the endzone someday ,giving it horseshoe seating.

Fear the Poet

I agree with Bob. Pomona was a great place to watch a game. I also enjoy Claremont. I dont care much for Oxy and Chapman. I havnt been to LaVerne since 2007, but my feeble memory tells me it was a dump. I like Redlands and of course, Whittier is my favorite ;)
I have not yet been to the new Cal Lu place. I liked the old Cal Lu, but last time there, I was acosted by a grey haired gentleman in a lawn chair and orange hat.

Fear the Poet and not the gray haired man in the orange cap.  He never leaves his lawn chair.

OxyBob......

I have offered you a better view at Chapman several times, but received no response.
The atmosphere at the old Mt Clef on a Saturday was well worth the long drive from Orange County. I will miss the closeness
of everything. It would seem like there was several thousand in the stands on the Cal Lu side with the students cheering
and the band playing. The best was the sound of a kicked xp or fg hitting the dressing room roof. Parking was right behind the visitor's bench.

If C-LU builds a stand in the north zone then the photographers don't have to run so far so fast. They simply hide under the bleachers.
I vote for old Mt. Clef too. I sat on the little grass hill below the snack stand next to the (ex) coach's wife and kids.

As pitiful as it sounds, I'm guessing you picked up an extra 50-100 students at Clef simply because it was on the way back to the dorms from the dining hall.  I always went to games because I was interested but my roommates had no interest at all. But, after a noon feeding they'd often stop by for at least the first half simply because it was on the way home.

This must have been from the last episode of "The Californians". We all know that skit is based on Cal Who graduates.

Coach Mac isn't in the same area code as Coach Maynard. Coach Maynard has playoff appearances under his belt back when 16 teams were chosen for the playoffs and their were not automatic bids. Our only loss in 1992 was to DII Hayward 22-8 and we barely got in. The reward for that was a date with Wisconsin-Lacrosse back when they were winning NC's. That game was really close until the 3rd quarter, they won the NC that year and beat Mount as well.

Coach Mac is a good one, but he has a ways to go before being in the same league as Coach Maynard & Widolff.

No dog in this fight (though you'd never know it) but Mac stepped up and answered the phone. Maynard has all but ruined the "sister" school thing with LINFIELD.

In sports, its usually what have you done for me lately,Coach Mac win hands down.Rfb, redlands did all this before coach Mac to CLU...Hmmmm... just maybe...
