Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen.   While we are on the subject of unruly fans, a little video from this weekend up here in Sacramento.  I think we can all agree this is how you deal with an unruly fan.

moving on....Im looking forward to the Big "Battle for the Shoes" game. LR has never played in this game. He was injured his first two years, so we are pumped. With Oxy a little down and Whittier a little up, it appears we have a good shot to bring the shoes home. Hopefully our guys stay composed and play their game.

Im going to find OB and his family and throw out a bunch of "F" bombs :)

I just found these boards and this thread in particular and I'm excited to read and post.....but I hope this doesn't devolve into accusing each other's fan bases of being rude and classless. Every school probably has some bad apples. I will say that I've been at CLU home games for 40 years and have never heard someone call a player "white trash." Besides the obvious insensitivity of such a comment, it hardly even makes sense considering the demographic makeup of Thousand Oaks. Anyways, on to football...

WCAlum-Ill admit that wasn't the prettiest effort by the Kingsmen on Saturday but considering 4 of our best players were sidelined (Ramay, Zirbel, Jones, Minor), we got the job done. You can talk about your turnovers but if Rogers doesn't fumble on the 1-yard line with :30 left in the 2nd quarter, it's 42-24 at halftime and not really much of a game. If we play like that against Linfield on 11/17, we'll lose by 30.

Looking forward to trading zingers with everyone in this thread. Here's a funny stat for everyone. CLU's last 45 games:
vs. NWC opponents 5-8
vs. non-NWC opponents 31-1
Cal Lu Class of '93 and season ticket holder for 40 years. My parents were class of '67 and '68 and I grew up on the campus. Go Kingsmen!!!

welcome to the board. Its a fun bunch of football fans here..dont worry, we stay cool for the most part. haha

That game Saturday was sloppy on both sides. Cal Lu tried hard to keep us in it with penalties and their own turnovers for sure. As a Poet fan and dad I was pleased with the Poets effort for not giving up and fighting til the end. Cal Lu is loaded with talent and tough to deal with.

Down 21-0 and fought back..thats not what we are used to. :) Things are looking up in Whittier.

Thats funny that when McEnroe gets challenged by a team he supposed to slaughter he has to blog about the rough conditions and the disrespect of the fans.

According to McEnroe he was not concerned about his team, but about the tender sensibilities of the fans:

QuoteThey let their drunken tailgaters hang over a fence, hurling profanities and insults at players within earshot of large groups of families and young kids entering the game.  We can handle it as a team, but no family deserves to hear that when they're going to a game.

So what did McEnroe do to come to the rescue and protect the families and kids from the foul-mouthed tailgaters? Nothing. Well, he whined about it on his blog, so I guess that's something.

We at Oxy do not appreciate the uncivil behavior of Whittier fans. We simply won't have it. If you cannot control yourselves, then I suggest you stay home and spend the evening with a couple of 40-ouncers and the WWE.

what's the big deal. This blog is probably read only by CLu fans and OB and the CLU faithful more than likely agree.

Well...I read his blog and I cringed a little when I read that about the Whittier students (before it was mentioned on the board).  I don't know if you want a HC in your conference airing those grievances when there are plenty of other people that have had similar experiences at CLU games (see Bob's post about the former players two feet away yelling at Linfield players calling them "fa**ots" and "pu**ies").  It comes off as hypocritical and cheap and I don't think Mac is either of those things.

Besides that, I enjoy his blog and hope he continues to put more time and effort into his posts.  :D

I have enjoyed following his blog because I think he does a good job of keeping it light and putting things in perspective.  We can pick apart every single post but as long as he doesn't go down that same path week after week I don't have a problem if he complains once.  Think about it, after a single post we now have a civil conversation happening about fan behavior and hopefully that will carry over to the stands - I say that's a good thing.

All that being said, I've never understood the fan at any sporting event that curses at all.  If you want the entire world to know you're a moron just wear a shirt that says "I'm a moron." That way you get your point across but don't have to be so obnoxious doing it.

Good idea!  Print out about a dozen of those and had them out to the CLU football alumni at the next home game.  :)

Man....I am really disappointed to hear all this talk about poor behavior at Cal Lu games. I'm pretty connected with everyone and never miss a home game and rarely miss an away game and I've never seen the type of vitriol talked about here. If its happening, that really pisses me off. I get pretty fired up at the games but only for the Kingsmen. I have too much respect for anyone that would snap a chinstrap on.

Oh...and thanks for the reminder, Desertcat. We're painfully aware of it. We missed our FG last year and you made yours this year.

If it makes you feel any better--your field goal was blocked, not missed ;)

Oh I got it.  I was just too busy speculating on whether you suffer from Asperger Syndrome.

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Good to see that the coaches' poll moved Cal Lutheran to 10th.
