FB: Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

I am not the most informed on this but it seems to me that ever since the current AD took over there has been a revolving door with the Oxy coaches.  Just a few examples...

Football- 3rd HC in 3 years.  If I am the OC and I don't get the job, I walk away.
Baseball- 3rd HC since '07
M Soc- 3 HC's since '07
W BB- 3 HC's since '07
Softball- 3 HC's since '07
V-Ball- 3 HC's since '07

On the other hand, Coach Newhall (Mens BB) has been there 20+ years and Women's soccer has been there 8 years. 

I didn't go through all of the sports but I looked it up and saw that the current AD started her role in 2007.  Maybe the coaching isn't the problem but someone has to notice this trend.  Maybe I am out of line saying that but it stood out to me since Oxy has had such a strong Athletics Department for so long, especially Football.  Hopefully the next FB Coach is the right one.

Nice to see 9 SCIAC guys on the All-Region team.  I am a little surprised Fooks from Whittier isn't on the list but I understand how many guys there are to choose from.  Congrats to all.

Im surprised Fooks wasnt on there as well, but like you said..there are a lot of very talented guys out there. I was pleasantly surprised that Nathan Poole of Whittier made 2nd team. He didnt even get any all-conference notice. Id be interested to hear how that voting goes for the D3 team. Poole is a very good DL and one of the best kids you'll ever meet. Very happy for him. He will be a terror next year.

UR has 4 players on the team and CLU has 3. That ought to cause some serious whining in some circles.

Ha!  I thought the same thing.  I never came on here to say it but I think the coaches got it right with Hurst as the 1st team guy.  I think Hurst took over games much more than Ramay or Shultis.  Just my $.02 worth.

I attended the CMS-CLU basketball game this past Wednesday, and look, a shout-out from Ben McEnroe himself:

The entire second half was spent visiting with a gentleman known in D3 circles as Oxy Bob.  I really enjoyed our conversation and his insight.  I picked-up a couple things from Bob that I'm not going to share, and he is a very sharp and funny guy.  Look for him in the L.A. Times editorial section this weekend, hopefully he makes the cut!

Why, yes, I did make the cut:

According to Hyun-Jin Ryu's interpreter, "His first goal is to have two-digit number of wins and an ERA of 2.00 and break Chan Ho Park's winning record." While trying to emulate the success of Chan Ho Park is admirable, I have three helpful tips for Ryu. First, keep a close eye on your best three-piece suit at all times. Second, never lend Chad Kreuter any money. And, third, do not pitch to the same batter with the bases loaded twice in one inning.
