Semones spent three seasons at Yale from 2009-11

Yale was 16-14 during those three years, and lost three straight to rival Harvard.

He won four OIA Championships and went 68-14-2 in seven seasons as the head coach (1989-95) at Kahuku HS in Hawaii

Big deal. In 12 seasons at Oaks Christian, Bill Redell was 137-14-1, won seven section championships and was the CIF-Southern Section State Division III bowl champion in 2006. Oaks Christian won six consecutive CIF-Southern Section titles from 2003 to 2008, and appeared in nine straight section championship games from 2003 to 2011. How did that work out for Oxy?

[Semones] later had a three-year stint as the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach at the University of Hawaii from 1996-98.

Hawaii was 5-31 during those three years.

Shortly after his tenure with Hawaii, he was the defensive and special teams coordinator for the Hawaiian Islanders of the Arena Football League.

Shortly? Well, wait a second. The Hawaiian Islanders were a minor league AF2 team which only existed from 2002-2004. What was Semones doing between 1998 and 2002?

Who else was considered for the job? Doesn't sound like much of a national search to me.

I heard the finalists were two coaches on staff, a GA from USC, and Semones. Also, in 2012, Semones was a high school assistant.

The OC should have been promoted long ago, rather than bringing in Bill Redell, who quit the first chance he got. Of course, if Dale Widolff was still HC then it wouldn't be an issue.

Oxy athletics are becoming a joke.
