Item from the Riverside Press-Enterprise:

QuoteThe latest player with area ties to sign with an NFL team is Portland State linebacker Ian Sluss.

Sluss, who played two seasons at the University of Redlands before transferring to Portland State, signed earlier this week as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots. Before reaching agreement with the Patriots, he had been scheduled to attend a tryout camp with Tampa Bay.

From this article from the Pomona web site dated May 3, 2013, it looks like Pomona and Claremont got an early jump on the season:

Even more puzzling is that the link in the May, 2013, article takes you to a recap of the Pomona-Claremont game from October, 2005.

Redlands 2013 Schedule is up. The phone lines must be working just fine as they open at home against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Dawgs then go on the road to PLU, Oxy, & Cal Lu. Holy Moly that is an insane stretch of games.

Looking forward to this rematch! I will be very interested in seeing how our team does there. Losing some big seniors, we have a lot to shore up. I'm sure the team is heading in the right direction, but we need to get it together quickly playing on the road against a very quality team. Our QB, Oline, and D need to crank it up.

Anyways, wish I could make the trip. I'm sure we'll have a good showing as our team travels well. Have a great summer. See you in the fall.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Redlands could shake up the Division III landscape similar to what they did in 2011 when they played against a highly toughted North Central (Ill.) team. Can they do it again. Redlands did have some tough losses last year, can they respond and make it back to playoff form?

Yes, winning their first four games would indeed be impressive, but going 3-1 during that stretch, would be fine considering playoff implications if they do win the remaining games.

The Bulldogs return their entire d front, two backers and a couple safeties. If their corners can come around they should be tough on defense. The big question mark is the O line on returns two starters and who will be the QB. They cup board is not bare.

Ya....I'd say if they do that they have a good shot that the SCIAC Title. I'd love to play Redlands in the playoffs!  ;D
