Cat, Check out Mac's post today. Pretty interesting and I love those kinds of stories. I know he reads this board sometimes because he has made an Oxy Bob reference. It's cool, he made his point. Once again for the record Mac is a quality guy and coach. His ex-players respect and swear by him which is a great accomplishment. I tell high school kids to check out his program and have no problem is my family member want to play for him.  Just a little fun during the boring season.

Regarding recruiting in the SCIAC, it all comes down to who has the best linemen. It so tough in the SCIAC to find quality guys that can help up front as freshman. They really have to build them, most of the time. UR, CLU, Chapman, and Oxy...this season will come down to whose front play the best not the skills, all the teams have some pretty good skills players.

Totally disagree with you. I've read his blog and think he is a smug, cocky jerkoff. He's a perfect fit to lead that program because my experience playing them says the same thing for their players. He thinks his Cal Who program is on the level of Mt. Union when reality says they will be a flash in the pan. La Verne had a similar run in the 90's and have not been heard from since. Can't wait for The Who to go back to their usual third place finish in the SCIAC. Go Dawgs!

Since Mac took over: 5 of 7 years conference champs ... had a streak of 25 consecutive SCIAC wins (including 5 wins in a row vs Redlands) and the schools first 4 NCAA playoff appearances. We have finished lower than 2nd place only 3 times in the last 13 years (1 of which was last year's 4th place finish). So a long flash in a big pan.

Mac is the man, I would be tired of him too if I was a Redlands guy.

BTW if anyone asks, I forgot my password ... Had nothing to do with our record last year. Ready to argue with any of you pillow fighting, excuse making, 90's good times reminiscing, embarrassing white rapper youtube loving, hack Redlands fans anytime.

Also not going to look through 100 pages of posts on here to see if this was already mentioned but my all time favorite receiver Eric Rogers recently got signed to the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL after tearing up the AFL for 9 weeks as one of the league's leading receivers (NOTE: HIS QB ON MOST OF THOSE TD's WAS AN OXY ALUM IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN?). I am happy that he no longer has to plow into walls when catching TD's ... lot more space on a CFL field.

I am willing to bet that after a slew of NFL receiver injuries he will end up on an NFL practice squad this year and keep the dream alive.

At first I was going to lie and say I didn't watch it. BUT ... after further review I have to say, the most impressive thing I have seen in any of your video productions over the years was captured in this video ... I don't know if it was CGI or some new special effects you added, but I actually saw chicks in the Linfield stands. I was under the impression you guys only let middle aged men in overalls sporting summer teeth into your games.

1) I wish Rogers the best, fun to watch, good for the SCIAC and CLU
2) I have never said Mac is not a good person, he is...but human....I have noticed he is laying low this summer on the blogs, wonder why?
3) Mac better rally the troops, he is coming off the Regals worse season in the conference since 2000, this is the real test. Plus he has lost some coaches too, loosing his O line coach two years ago has proven to be significant, it is all about the linemen in this conference, (many good skill players in this conference) . I love all CLU talk of dominance, when one wins the memory becomes selective, on how the wins came about, but it was a pretty damn good run. CLU should have the best athletic programs in the conference based on commitment by the school, costs, acceptance, facilities etc...The school that amazes me is CMS, in how successful they are in the conference. Chapman is not as committed to athletics as it appears on the surface, but if the school continues to grow I can see them moving up at some point. They are acquiring land near the school left and right. They want to grow the undergraduate numbers to 7,000 - 9000 at build out.

Fox, Chapman has some large expansion plans, soon to be retired president who took them to this level (out of D2 to D3 because the school was broke) , and a current board of big hitters, so at some point they want to compete head to head with USC or Stanford as the best private college in CA. This is public knowledge, I have heard insiders say the same thing. If they have visions of doing this, their own board has brought up this topic , and unless an Ivy league school...athletics is part of the formula. Most likely at some point, they would have to go the path of University of San Diego if they wanted to capture all possible support, however first they need to purchase more land to increase capacity. They built their new stadium with expansion in mind, they tell recruits this, could easily be a 12,000+ seat stadium, there is room.
My bet is they are not D3 in 2024, at the very least not in the SCIAC, and should dominate given their wealth and size today! but winning is not important to current admin. Coaches don't get fired there for loosing.
....I would rank winning most important at CLU in football.

I know Chapman pretty well and would be happy to expand on their situation, but I got to run out the door.

This is even more illogical than the last post.  Why did the SCIAC add them in with all this common knowledge that they would leave ASAP?
BTW:  The best private college in California is CalTech.

He should hang it up and become a glorified coffee fetcher like the rest of Cal Who graduates.

Fox,

I don't why you want to put me on the defensive, but when an entity is broke they need to change their model. When an entity becomes financially healthy and new board of directors come into place, things changes, when an entity's is about to loose their leader, things change. Doti did what he needed to do in order for Chapman to survive. Bringing Argos onto the board brought a new dynamic to his board. They went from a group of academics to wealthy business men who run the school like a business.
I am sorry you do not understand things change, change is not a contradiction, the world and human beings are not static. I am sure when Chapman solicited the SCIAC to get in it was a pipe dream to grow to the size they are now, who could predict what was about to happen in our state when the liberals took over, raised taxes and set out goals to run jobs out of the CA..... Since the state has decided social programs are more important than education, Most well run private schools have been the benefactors. Chapman cleaned up buying property and expanding during this Great recession.
Heck UR has the room and plans to expand over the next few years, Over the next ten years expect them to grow to 4000 under grads on campus (already over 3000) and they will continue to bring on new majors in undergrad and master programs. The irony is current administration is less concerned with athletics than the past, so I doubt you will see any expansion of facilities where new male locker rooms are needed, meeting rooms, and expansion of their fitness center.
it is humorous to me you consider Cal Tech in the same light at USC or Stanford.....more to greatness than acceptance levels in my opinion. You are entitled to your opinion.

RFB, I find it ironic the Regal fans were no where to be heard...last season...

My take on the SCIAC...

1) UR, slight edge. UR could be better than last year and will need to be better than last season. I expect CU, the Regals, and Oxy to be better.

The key to UR will be up front. UR will only be as good as their O line. The O line had three good players at center and tackles but the guards were tough to watch at times. UR will be a running team and must control the game. They cannot depend on their defense to keep them in the game. UR defense had to contend with multiple back to back three and out by the offense. They won't have that luxury next year. The O line returns four starters plus a couple back ups that started due to injuries. This summer is huge for them. How hard did they work, I don't know. Some needed to bulk up, some slim down. I hope they got better over the spring and summer. If they go from sub par to just good, UR will be tough. UR will live by the return of their two starting RB and a seasoned QB. Expect Russell to be a poor man's Tim Tebow, expect a ton of read and option plays every down. UR will be a run first team. Our two top WR are gone but there are capable players coming back and with our scheme they just need to be serviceable. On defense the linebackers will be our strength. UR returns two starters, plus all conference in 2012 Griffin Lord who redshirted last season due to injury. They actually have four backers with multiple starts. Expect to see them all over the field and on the move, a lot of blitzing. Our DB's return three seasoned players, a redshirt with starts too. If we can get strong free safety play they will be solid, I like our corners. Our D line is as green as I can remember. Our D Ends were back ups last year, and our NT is the most experienced player, moving from a DT in 40 front to full time NG. Depth is thin on this line, we cannot
have any injuries. The group is just as gifted as the last group just lacks experience. We need one player to break out.

If UR can stay healthy, they are my favorite (all so slight)...We are thin at back ups so cross your fingers, Bulldog fans.

2) This is a tie ....CU and CLU...
CU, has some real nice skills back but they lost several linemen on both sides of the ball. CU downfall is their linemen. They are so thin, forced to move backers to D line etc...they have the skills to play with anyone. They are very dangerous on offense. I expect them to be the stat leaders again.
The Regals are coming off their worse season since 2000. The Regals also lost many huge O lineman. I really think loosing their O line coach last season hurt them. They were less polished than in the past. They also lost a couple DT so they will need kids to step up too. The QB issue will be interesting. Rico will start, but he not a big kid, so lets see if he can make it through the season. They lack depth unless Mac pull the transfer Rabbit out of the hat.
Tranfers seem to find their way to the Regals so one never knows if an impact players in the works. I know they worked the JC circuit very hard this off season, so it tells me Mac was looking for help at O line, safeties, and WR.
4) Oxy, they may have the best QB, RB and WR in the conference but they suffer in a similar manner as CU, lack of solid players up front. Their defense was just pretty soft up front. They must improve up front to have a real chance. I like what I see from the ex Regal coach.  They scare me, no gimme for the Dogs.
5) This is tough, but I will go with ULV. Some skills back, they have large numbers out for football.
6) CMS, very young last season, couple nice players up front....
7) Whittier could be another Cal Lu if the admin ever got behind the program, despite alumni pressure the board does not see the need to respond. They unravel as the season goes on, loosing Jellerson set them back years.
8) PP, nice school...basketball team working the snack bar is fun to watch when they start teasing each other.

I am 50/50 the champ will have one loss.
