UMHB's defense is stout with the potential to be as good as any The CRU has fielded. However, the offense lacks a lot to be desired right now. I don't know what is wrong. We have a new offensive coordinator. Some have said he is letting the QBs do a lot of reading which seems to be causing issues. The offensive line has not been as dominating as in the past. So, if UMHB is going to contend for it all, the offense is going to have to vastly improve. Time will tell if that is going to happen.

UMHB's second-team QB, Blake Jackson, has looked sharp in both games.

Best of luck to Redlands the rest of the season.

KB,

I agree with you. The story of the game was your defense and our poor offense. The first four series lead to MHB punts.
The rest of the game the dogs were defending a short field. I counted 12 short fields they had to defend. Pretty tough to do against an opponent such as MHB. Consider you ran 99 plays and scored 28 on the defense is not that bad for UR.
I think Anderson is being asked to do things that are not him. The offense is not geared to a guy with his skills. Your second QB came in and wore UR down, with is wheels and your Wildcat. He added a dimension, UR actually took away inside zone read. I like your fullback and they should give him more reps.

Sure wish we could keep playing you guys, class act...

olddog, your analysis is spot on.

I thought the Redlands defense was very scrappy. I even said so during the game. The front was not as big as the UMHB o-line, but they fought hard and out-quicked them several times.

I think the Bulldogs will have a fine season.

We shall see. Looking forward to seeing Linfield up close for the first time.

RFB, is that a quote from the Redlands QB ? Cause they might be living in his backfield all day.  Salty D all day every day...

I was at the Whittier game. The Poets showed some heart, but early miscues doomed them. Man, it was hot out there. :)

Who was the genius who decided it'd be a good idea for Whittier, whose colors are purple and gold, to wear all black uniforms in the broiling sun? That was obviously rhetorical, as I used the words genius and Whittier in the same sentence.

OxyBob

EDIT: I take it back. Oxy also wore all black uniforms in the broiling sun. But the HC likely enjoyed a cold one after the game.

Wished I could have met you. The Poets did an admirable job of fighting back from those early mistakes.

A few Redlands Bulldogs who will suit up today awoke with just a tad bit of doubt. Doesn't matter if they start or play. It's there.
Hey! Nice grass though.

One word to describe Redlands tonight - Pathetic. I was shocked to see the level of talent they put on the field, especially after a title year. I was thinking to myself that the starters would be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart at best on the 90's & early 00's Redlands teams. They were small, slow, and just overall were overmatched by a very good Linfield team. Anyway, it was good to meet up with Wildcat11 for a pre-game beer and to see Linfield up close for the first time. Time to look in the mirror Redlands and maybe undergo a heart transplant before the next game.
