One word to describe Redlands tonight - Pathetic. I was shocked to see the level of talent they put on the field, especially after a title year. I was thinking to myself that the starters would be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart at best on the 90's & early 00's Redlands teams. They were small, slow, and just overall were overmatched by a very good Linfield team. Anyway, it was good to meet up with Wildcat11 for a pre-game beer and to see Linfield up close for the first time. Time to look in the mirror Redlands and maybe undergo a heart transplant before the next game.

It wasn't that bad. You make it sound like it's the end of the world.... don't worry, you guys could end up in the playoffs?

I have a 20+ year association with Redlands football, as a player and alum. What I witnessed last night was foreign to me, definitely not Redlands football or the Bulldog way. I don't care who they were playing, there is a thing called heart and Redlands lacked it last night. They have a duty to represent the players that have came before them and built the program. Well, they took a big fat dump on that tradition last night. If I'm being too harsh than so be it, they can go look at all of their participation trophies they received growing up to feel better about themselves.

You're being a little harsh RFB.  Redlands probably had the two toughest games to start the season in all of D3.  I didn't see Redlands lose heart in fact I was amazed that the Dog D kept being spunky and making some hard hits right up to the end.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for Redlands.  They gotta be better for playing the best to open their season.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

The SCIAC had a lousy weekend, going 1-5.

Whittier 23 Lewis & Clark 10
Austin 21 Oxy 12
Whitworth 50 La Verne 48
Rhodes 42 Pomona 21
Linfield 33 Redlands 3
Willamette 42 Cal Lutheran 24

In the wild Whitworth-La Verne game, WU scored with 30 seconds left to get the win. The Pirates' Bryan Peterson broke the D-III single-game record for completions in a game. Peterson was 59-for-83 for 589 yards and six TDs, no INTs, and he rushed for a TD. On the other side, ULV's William Livingston was 27-for-44 for 469 yards and seven TDs, 2 INTs. How close was the game? Total offense: WU 651, ULV 672. Time of possession: WU 30:33, ULV 29:27.

This is a bye week for the entire conference. No SCIAC games on Sept. 27. Back in action on Oct. 4.

Sorry I missed you at the Pre Game.  11 said you guys hooked up for a beer pre game, he enjoyed it.  Gotta tell you I expected more out of your boys.  Redlands has always had a top notch program.  The last time I saw them live was in 98 when 11 was playing and it was a nail biter.  I'm sure they will figure it out and start to roll again.  Best of luck on your run this year

I'm watching for a tie or even a 3 way and Redlands not getting post season because you have a no repeat?

Yes, it would good to meet up. I was expecting to meet you too but no worries, another time down the road. I was expecting more too, really disappointed in the showing. They have a long way to go to be competitive with the top programs in DIII. No more excuses, time to step up and move the program forward to greater things.

RFB-  how do you think the SCIAC will play out this year?

Not a clue. Redlands looked like crap two games in a row. Cal Lu gave up 455 yards rushing to Willamette. Chapman is still Chapman to me until they win the SCIAC outright. You never know with Oxy but they have underperformed too. Whittier is still ****ti*r and Pomona & CMS rarely have teams that compete for the title. ULV could be a wildcard but who knows. All in all it looks like a conference full of crappy teams through the first two weeks of the season.

RFB is upset and speaking from the heart, but I am afraid more right than emotional.

The bulldogs are a huge disappointment. CLU can say they have a young team which is true, but the seniors are the one that just tanked Saturday night for UR. We made 55 look all world, we never held him, like LF does. We should what their tape on pass blocking do what they do, get hands inside and hold.., it is not called in D3, so do it, I am not complaining, just would make that adjustment.. We never held him and tested the refs.
Our knowledge of down and distance when playing as a defensive back was horrible. 3rd  and long, we let then hook or curl in first down territory.. The changed up their zone read and blocked the NG and DE, our safeties and will backer never figured it out. Not a good game by the players and adjustments were never made. 5-4 is a maybe.

We get PP, which we will beat up then the Regals...

You've got dog poo on your shoes now and you will certainly hear about it.

Reading through your typos ?? you saw the game films broken down down and the Maynard staff says LINFIELD has taught and practiced an illegal move that has resulted in various winning streaks, ie, 6-0 against Redlands??

As a former defensive lineman i always felt if i gave up the inside hand position to an offensive lineman it was my own damn fault when they locked in. That's football.

Btw.....Redlands didn't make Hoff look all world, he's just flat out good. Anybody around the program knew he was going to have a monster year. Chapman and Redlands isn't the only team he's going to feast on.

Cat obviously you have played a bit based on you comment, I commend LF O line, very well coached, I would do the same if I was them...We struggled on the d line getting our arms extend so they can not lock on. Redland coaches had an equally rough day. #55 IS GOOD, But can be blocked, we never tested the refs by getting our hands inside and grabbing cloth, we never cut him, we never chipped him with a RB, we never brought in our TE, we made zero game adjustments. Tough to watch.
