RFB-  how do you think the SCIAC will play out this year?

Not a clue. Redlands looked like crap two games in a row. Cal Lu gave up 455 yards rushing to Willamette. Chapman is still Chapman to me until they win the SCIAC outright. You never know with Oxy but they have underperformed too. Whittier is still ****ti*r and Pomona & CMS rarely have teams that compete for the title. ULV could be a wildcard but who knows. All in all it looks like a conference full of crappy teams through the first two weeks of the season.

I'm with you on this one...
I am interested to see what happens with Chapman this weekend, especially since they have to travel. I would say this is their best chance to win the SCIAC for sure. Cal Lu has a pretty good offense but they might as well be playing D with 8 men.  I think Redlands will play much better in the near future but regardless of who they have played, 3 points in 2 games has to be a cause for concern.  I think Oxy might cause some issues for both of them.  ULV will chuck it all over the place but I just don't see them being physical enough.  Whittier, Pomona and CMS will round out the bottom, again.

I'm curious to see LaVerne and CalLu at the end of the season---neither team is playing defense so far--could be a track meet.

FYI...#55 is the brother of 2012-13 D3 Pre-Season All-American DT Tyler Steele.
Tyler was injured both seasons.

Oh!
BTW...D3 2013-14 Pre-Season AA DE Brynnan Hyland is injured again this year and not playing.

Very impressed with #55. He was a wrecking ball on defense causing havoc.

RFB- can you explain the Bulldogs helmets to me?  I really like the color but can't seem to get what the decal is on the front.  Is it a pennant or something similar?

I like the old helmets, the color was too dark. Not sure what the decal was on the front.

I don't know what the decal is for but it looks like they went darker to match the charcoal colored pants better.

As a former defensive lineman i always felt if i gave up the inside hand position to an offensive lineman it was my own damn fault when they locked in. That's football.

Btw.....Redlands didn't make Hoff look all world, he's just flat out good. Anybody around the program knew he was going to have a monster year. Chapman and Redlands isn't the only team he's going to feast on.

Cat obviously you have played a bit based on you comment, I commend LF O line, very well coached, I would do the same if I was them...We struggled on the d line getting our arms extend so they can not lock on. Redland coaches had an equally rough day. #55 IS GOOD, But can be blocked, we never tested the refs by getting our hands inside and grabbing cloth, we never cut him, we never chipped him with a RB, we never brought in our TE, we made zero game adjustments. Tough to watch.

Yea he played a bit   ;D

Next week SCIAC action will see:
CLU at Whittier
Redlands at PP
Oxy at ULV

Non conference action will see:
Chapman at CMS

I will defer to Mr. OxyBob to answer that question, as he is the resident expert and has so declared, and/or implied  that Chapman is not a member of the SCIAC. But, thanks for the question anyway.
