I will defer to Mr. Oxybob to answer that question, as he is the resident expert and has so declared, and/or implied  that Chapman is not a member of the SCIAC. But, thanks for the question anyway.
I'd be interested in seeing a discussion between OxyBob and Coach McEnroe (CLU) regarding Chapman (or Brandman as McEnroe likes to call them).  That could be some entertaining stuff.....

Great response. Plus K to you MC!

You bring up a good question, would OxyBob approve of a
SCIAC application from Brandman University?

And does McEnroe consider Brandman (or Chapman for that matter) part of the SCIAC?

McEnroe does refer to Chapman as a member of the SCIAC, but he does refer to Redlands
as the school out east.  If you haven't  checked it out yet, go to the CLU football web site
and click on "Ben's Blog". Some interesting thoughts.

yes--I've seen it.  Usually good for a laugh.  Coincidentally I was just at Home Depot with my linfield shirt on and an HD employee stopped me in the parking lot-- turns out he was a former CalLu player from 2011....didn't get his name

Just read "Ben's Blog" and it is now official..................Ben has named the Brandman team as the
Brandman Branditos"................wasn't aware of it until now. Is Chapman now fielding a second team?
They better get that SCIAC application over to OxyBob.

Ben's Blog is in the CLU football web site.

Don't usually post much about Chapman's sports teams (not big on bulleting board material), but I wanted to do a shout out for our O line and D line. Did a very good job against the "bigger"
Whitworth guys. Line guys don't usually get much attention...especially with CU's QB, backs and receivers
doing such a good job.

My wife and I came up to Spokane for the game. Great first half....lots of offense and not much, if any defense. The PINE BOWL is a great place to watch a game.

We are staying the balance of the week in Hope ID....another beautiful place.

Gotta go now....gotta take the wife to a craft faire....that is the trade off for the game!

Hope you're enjoying Eastern WA and Idaho, dahlby. Whitworth's offense is much improved and I'm not shocked they put up more points than Linfield did. Also not surprised the D didn't do much to stop the Panthers. Chapman's offense good, that QB is a tough kid and he has weapons all over the field. If the D can force turnovers against CLU and Redlands and generally play like they did against Whitworth in the 2nd half, they'll win the SCIAC with their only loss coming to Linfield...which will probably win them another date with the Wildcats up in McMinnville.

Whitworth just doesn't have the talent quite yet, but us Pirate fans sure are excited with what we've seen from Sandberg and co. in the offseason and Stanfield's offense is definitely an improvement. Good luck to the Panthers the rest of the season.

Yes, we are enjoying very much.

Make no mistake, Whitworth is a fine team. Very big and talented, and those linemen are quick.
If they can play an entire game like they played the first half against CU, they will give the best teams in the NW Conf a run for their money. A couple of turnovers and dropped passes hurt the Pirates
and took some of the energy from them. Hope your QB is going to be healthy. He took a pounding
during the game. I was on the sidelines and was surprised he got up a couple of times.

Saturday night final:

Oxy 33 La Verne 27

Player Of The Game: Oxy WR Sam Stekol with 13 catches for 245 yards and 3 TDs.

The Tigers had some excellent defensive and special teams play. In the 3rd quarter, after a 46-yard punt by Sam Crizer pinned ULV inside the 10, Shay Mueller intercepted ULV QB Justin Gomez's pass at the 2 and walked in for a TD to give Oxy a 24-7 lead. Later in the quarter, Oxy LB Matt Mulvehill blocked Eric Acosta's punt out of the end zone for a safety.

Oxy is 2-1 and 1-0 SCIAC. La Verne is 1-2, 0-1. Next week ULV is at Claremont, while Oxy is home to Whittier and the annual Battle for the Shoes.

In other news, St. Scholastica is 5-0.

Interesting games this weekend. Should be a competitive week for SCIAC teams:

Game of the week: CLU at Redlands
ULV at CMS
WC at Oxy

Non-conference game:
PP at CU  (Brandman if you are Coach Ben) (see Ben's blog on CLU web site)

It should be an interesting week in the SCIAC. I am still not sure about the dogs. We could not finish, had to settle for FGs down on the goal line against PP. Pretty tough to watch. I think being at home will help us a bit, the offense really needs to focus, too many mistakes. We should have been up, 28-7 ++++ at half, instead of 19-7.

On a side note a combination of the worse officials I have seen in years along with PP being the cheapest team I have seen in years. One can not tell me the stuff they do is not coached or encouraged. O linemen just grabbing faces mask and helmets throwing kids down by both , hits away from the plays, tackling the linebackers. The refs were the laziest crew I have seen, if they had to run to spot the ball it did not happen. It is sad watching crews like this when the players work hard all year, they deserve a better effort out of the referee crew. The kept referring to the score. The referees stole from the boys Saturday night and should have returned their fee to charity. The spots were horrible both ways.

Difficult game to watch especially since the video work was sub par...But Old dog one, ref decided to get into the action himself if I recall...it was fun to  listen to the Play by from PP - just ripping their own team. But it was good to see Redlands rotating a ton of players into the game

Mir,

I went back and watched the video, better QC on you tube. The umpire got clipped from behind that is how he hurt his knee.
He was so slow reacting to the interception. The best comment was we have the talent just need to play smarter. I agree it was pretty honest.

The crew was a primarily a high school and JC crew according to my sources from UR admin. Maynard should send the league (oops conference)  the video on how cheap PP plays. Coach Maynard will not tolerate that kind of play or a bunch of talking. PP admin should be embarrassed, quality teams like MHB or LF, play the game the right way.

If your not good, loose with class not being cheap. UR did not cheap shot MHB or LF at the end of the game, took their beating like men.
