I think D3 Football does a great job, but Pat you guys have way to much influence on people in regards to your poll on D3 Football

I don't understand the influence point but thanks, I guess?

I am upset that St. Scholastica is 7-0 and not ranked.

Maybe after they beat Eureka this week. ;D

Willamette is receiving the least votes (of the five teams) in that reader poll question...but is the only other team besides Chapman receiving votes in the D3 Top 25 (and more than a couple votes).

I'm a pretty big homer, but did not vote for PLU in the reader poll.  Should be a good match-up with Willamette this weekend.

Pacific gets no votes after knocking out number 18 Pacific Lutheran? They had a couple faults in preseason play, but its evident they've already grown as the season has progressed. Plus they can compete with Linfield."  --comment from D3football.com Top 25 thread

I watched the Chapman/Regals game last night. A couple observation about the Regals. Might be the worse run defense in the conference. Coach Mac has to go back to the basics, pursuit angles and tackling drills. Hence giving up so many points on special teams this year to UR and Chappy. Their special teams coverage is the worse in the conference. The Regals have zero ability to run the ball. They need to bring in a few D1 transfer to the O line next season, other wise the issue wont go away. Not too many freshman linemen are ready to play. The Regals will be lucky to finish in fourth place this year. Will Coach Mac blog back to back fourth place team in the SCIAC?

Chapman is very scrappy as JP has described. The UR versus Chapman game will come down to who can run the ball and who plays mistake free. I expect a very close game. I think Chapman will attack the edges on UR, run boot action and chip away at the corners. UR's DE will need to play a great game. On offense UR will try to establish the run to set up pass. UR is a run first team. UR needs to catch Chapman safeties playing aggressive. I think that option will be there.

Hats off to CMS, most improved team in the conference this season.

Not necessarily disagreeing with your assessment, but CLU did manage 165 yards and 4.5 yards/carry rushing the ball against a decent Chapman defense.  So they had more than "zero ability to run the ball"....CLU actually strikes me as a decent offensive unit (but young and prone to turnovers and other mistakes).  Their defense on the other hand (and as you pointed out) is pretty bad.

The CLU and Pomona games were both free of charge.
The Oxy game was $12.95. :'(

The NWC is a 1 bid league this year...that is unfortunate for the Chapman/Redlands winner. McMinnville will not be lovely that time of year

There may be 2 flights this year as MHB may end-up on an island...that could send the SCIAC to Texas and someone else to McMinnville...but there is still 3 weeks of waiting before that gets decided and crazy things could still happen....

Met with Coach Ben M last night before the game and presented him with a nice "Brandman University"
shirt.

I stand corrected Oxy Bob thank you, Oxy is ranked dead last in the conference in rushing and CLU a respectable third to last..My assessment was based on the teams I have seen this season, I guess the worse rushing offenses are yet to be seen by UR.

Looks like we're the last region to get one of these started up. So, I'll be happy to organize one if we can get at least 10 reliable voters. We can use D3football.com's West Region team list as eligible teams to consider. I'm hoping to get two or three people from each conference to participate, if possible. With no more than one representative/fan from each school.....just to have a fair and unbiased poll as possible. Since we're halfway through this season already, I will probably won't start until the 2015 season.

This could be fun, considering (as we all know) the West is where the power conferences in DIII reside  :P  ;)

So if you're fan of a West region team (MIAC, WIAC, MWC, IIAC, SCIAC, UMAC, or NWC) and interested in doing this next year, you can send me a message or sign up here:

1. 02 Warhawk (UWW - WIAC)
2. Hazzben (Bethel - MIAC)
3. MasterJedi (UWW - WIAC)
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Head over the West Region Fan Poll thread and sign up if you're interested. You can't complain about the anti-west coast bias if you don't vote  ;) 8-)

SCIAC Mid-season review.

Chapman: Pretty much as advertised. Played Linfield closer than some expected. Fastest team in the conference.
UR: Disappointed they did not play MHB and LF tougher. The offense being the primary reason. Not sure how much they have improved, will find out against Chapman. Injuries are an issue at this point, 6 starters done for the year.
Oxy: missed that call appear to have very little running game which means up front they are not any better than last year.
ULV: the biggest bust of the year, they have talent but cannot put it together, way too many turnovers to win games. Issue could be coaching and lack of support from school $$$.
Whittier: They always appear to take one step forward and two back. Obvious sports are not a priority at the school. They have some talent, turn over is an huge issue at this program.
CMS: Improved and not surprised. Being in the middle of the pack is a great season for them. Kudos
PP: Not sure they even care. cheap shot team, hate playing them
The Regals: I expected more out of them. I am surprised they only beat the Poets by 10, and lost to UR and Chappy by 20 plus. They might go two years in a row with a loosing record. Spin that to recruits. I call their season a bust so far.
