If LINFIELD starts having scheduling problems with the SCIAC could you guys give the number of Saboba Sovereign Nation and Casino so we can contact that Haskell school?

Haskell dropped football this past offseason, actually.

Hey all you Redlands detractors ... keep in mind that the Bulldogs only lost 2 games in September.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I agree RFB, different level of support for the team. Appleton still comes around but as a fan. Remember when Redlands built their lockers and fitness center, along with practice field. Even then there were plans to expand, second story, coaches offices meeting rooms etc... They were a leader in facilities at that time, now the money has gone other directions. Other schools have passed them. Heck their facilities rivaled most D2 and 1AA schools 15 years ago. Yes they did put in a sports turf practice field but that was more school use issue over football or any other sport. I just heard the men locker room is finally getting AC and all the shower now work.

Now the school is on a diversity kick at the expense of all programs, and the school has had it easy in terms of generating record enrollment numbers due to the crisis in our State and UC system. Heck they backed off their numbers this year due to housing shortage.

Appleton was a driving force for getting the turf practice field. Current admin couldn't care less about athletics. The U of R men's  locker room is an embarrassment. There isn't even enough space for players to get ready at the same time.

So got to catch the Chapman - Claremont/Mudd/Scripps game and it was a very entertaining one. well played and some really impressive plays, Chapman, your reciever completing the reception for the second OT, on the run. in the corner of the endzone amd backhanded.. very good...

The SCIAC....hey were down this year...on the upside 6-1 or 5-2 may win the conference so it is going to be fun.

UR versus CLU...I may do write up more on this game latter this week. The puppies will need their defense to carry them. It will be a field position game.
How much has UR improved ? UR run defense will be the best team the Regals have faced this season. I am sure Coach Mac will throw the heck out of the short game. If UR can keep CLU under 150 yards rushing they win, if not UR could very easily loose.
Coach Mac your blog on your opponent is due out today!

ULV/CMS, who would have thought this was going to be an important early season game. Good for both groups! Looks like La Verne is playing a little d this year. I have seen both and give the slightest edge to the Leos

Chapman...and the Hens....Chapman will try to stuff the ball down the throats of the Hens, UR ran the ball well on the Hens the last three quarters, expect the same. Chapman needs to speed up the Hens to win. The Hens should give the ball to their stud more and don't get cute.

Whittier and Oxy, if Whittier can play like they did in the first quarter against the Regals they could steal a couple games. This one is a toss up. Both D's are lacking,....I will take Oxy by a sip of their wine glasses.

Thank-you for hanging around the board and giving us something to look at.

A few thoughts to keep the conversation about the SCIAC going....

Redlands vs CLU... probably this week's match up that will tell us the most about the eventual conference winner. UR is the conference runner up from last year and has to be considered an early conference favorite. However after a loss at GF, in a game everyone thought they should win, and a resounding loss at Linfield, questions surfaced. DBQ reminded the UR detractors that the Bulldogs "only lost two games in September" and in fact those games mean nothing for the conference. Order is restored when UR comes to conference play and handles Pomona as expected. CLU comes in at 3-0 but to be honest, I have no idea about the quality of their first two wins.  CLU has had a few down seasons and coach Mac has been next to silent on his blog; but seems quietly confident this year. CLU opened the SCIAC with a win, handling Whittier as expected. So not having watched either team and thus not being able to comment on the who should win the game; the winner of this game will be undefeated with a win over one of the contenders in the conference.

LaVerne vs CMS... Two teams which won the opening SCIAC games. LaVerne pulling away on the ground in the fourth quarter against a questionable Oxy defense. Interestingly LaVerne defeated the same GF team in week one that beat UR in the second week. CMS defeated Chapman on their homecoming putting Chapman at 0-3, which leads to the question of how Chapman will actually perform this season. CMS faces a homecoming crowd at LaVerne for the second week in a row. Both teams like to run the ball. CMS has been good against the run. Should be a close game and may come down to which team can complete some key passes.

Chapman vs Pomona... Do or die for Chapman this week. Chapman surprisingly is at 0-3 with an unexpected loses to CMS. Pomona at 1-2 with a win at a rebuilding Lewis & Clark and a lopsided loss to UR. Should be a clear win for Chapman, but you never know what the confidence level is there.

Whittier vs Occidental... Whittier comes in after a conference loss to CLU and Occidental a loss to LaVerne. Oxy will want to keep hopes for a conference title alive and avoid going 0-2 in conference. Should be a win for Oxy but if Whittier eliminates turnovers and other mistakes you never know.

Big day for my puppies, it is going to be warm at Regal Stadium, low 90's...about 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. My pups are used to the heat so I am not concerned.

The game is going to come down to mistakes,...Expect Mac to throw the kitchen sink at UR in terms of old school formations and I am sure a few trick plays, CLU is always good for a couple. I would play the field position game, given our solid fg kicker. I think first team to 24 wins, could be less. Key for both teams is running the ball. If you like watching the backers fill and knock backs, this will be your game. If UR DB's tackle well UR wins, if not we go down by 10. CLU is small up front in their 3-4, so expect UR to run straight at their quickness. The Regals play well at home so the pups will need a perfect effort.

It will be fun, and whoever wins this game they are in the drivers seat for the vaunted SCIAC championship.

I dare you to go to that game and stand on the visitor side of the turf. 90 magnifies to 110.

As hot as that was, last year at Whittier was the hottest I've experience on a football field.
