Linfield is on their radar, I really wish we would have played them in the playoffs, based on the three playoff scores against MHB by UR, LF, and Wh....We would had a much better chance than the last few years....no doubt

Looking at scores, Redlands almost lost to GFU at home and Linfield was up 50 to 0 at half against GFU....Based on that, I would like Linfield by 48 over Redlands.

Good one, so wish we would have played

Dog...the SCIAC has had 27 chances against Linfield and are 1 and 26.  All bark...no bite.

I sense the anger in you, young Jedi..

It will make the first one even sweeter....I am sure the Bulldogs and Kats will both enjoy watching the games this weekend.

Looks like the Dogs got a little respect from the coaches finishing #25 in coaches poll. I am surprised LF was #8, given their blow out to MHB by 39 in the preseason and loosing by 17 in game 2 to MHB. Just goes to show you pre-season poll mean very little, LF was number one in many.

I don't know which "polls" those were -- preseason rankings from D-I magazines mean even less than very little.

Our preseason top six. (And John Carroll was 18.)

Polls, smolls. None of it matters, not even the d3football.com poll.

I am not a fan of polls in general, but the end of the year polls have the most merit from the coaches. I am surprise LF is number 8...I watched play offs games, If UR is a Midwest team they are in the teens

except that if UR is a midwest team they are not playing SCIAC teams during their conference schedule so who knows what happens to them (if they were in the MIAC for instance I don't see them beating St. Thomas or St. Johns--the 3rd place team in the MIAC was Concordia Moorhead--they recieved no votes in the final poll......I've seen the sentiment that Linfield is not a #8 (which is true--they finished #7) team and I get it--what I haven't seen is who people think should be in the top 10 to replace Linfield.....

Monrovia Cat,

In the AFCA "coaches poll" Wheaton #7, LF #8, UR #25....I put more merit in this poll than D3.com poll...sorry Pat

I agree Wheaton and LF are no where near the class of MU or Osh, this season. LF' qb was great but the RBs were slower than the past, the O line and D line we not as good as in the past. They lost an ALL American Guard and #55 a Redlands killer. Not the same team, sorry Kity Kats, just not...you got blown out by 39 this season. Who would have taken that bet.

Lets look at MHB run....UR was up at halftime and MHB was lucky it was only 7 point lead, the score was 37-28 with 11 minutes left and UR was on MHB goal line, MHB holds UR on the worse spot in the tournament ...UR was robbed. The game should have been a 37-35 game with 10 minutes left. This was a much more competitive game than LF or Wheaton gave MHB. LF was down and being manhandled 27-3, until they ran back a punt in garbage time. Wheaton was slightly more competitive but was down at half, and lost by 22. Never rallied in the fourth.

So as RFB says Polls sux, I agree the are stupid based on what I described above, but the facts above prove UR's quality of play at the end of the season was pretty competitive, and I argue better than Wheaton and LF. It does not matter what conference we play in or our away pant jersey's do not match. Maybe a 25 is too low....What I never talked about was UR lost their number one QB to a broken collar bone and #1 RB mid season to a broken foot and still finished strong. They made huge strides of improvement week to week. RFB witnesses it at the CLU game...

Sorry for being logical...I know this is a message board.

Since you like facts and logic so much:

184    TOTAL OFFENSE    595

Yeah--UR was soooooo competitive with MHB.

At any rate--I talked about who UR plays because you said "if UR was a midwest team they would have been ranked in the teens".  I just don't agree---
As for Linfield's ranking--you may be right  but I still think it's hard to find other teams to slot into the top 10 that are arguably better.

Monrovia Cat,

Thanks for your take. We agree on the LF ranking issue, so we would agree this year UR/LF would have been a closer game than in the past and UR had a real chance versus the past LF team.  but we don't agree on a team that gave MHB a much better game than LF did twice. I would not expect anymore on a message board. Honestly the biggest tilt in our game was not completing the double pass that was wide open. We go in up 21 at half and they have to throw the ball second half. That was more critical than the worse call in the playoffs by the sideline judge in the playoffs.

If you watched MHB playoffs run, UR game plan was to make MHB throw it, their QB beat our DE on RPO...they won. (Osh and MU adjusted even more with their DE)..they beat us up inside pretty good too, our DBs did a great job in cover...LF game plan I am not sure what they were trying to accomplish .....but MU and Osh were not going to let the RPO beat them and forced MHB to throw the ball. Osh did a great job stopping MHB going small up front. I found it interesting Osh went after the same kids UR did in the passing game.

In conclusion a team that gave the national champ a tougher game than the 7th and 8th ranked teams barely deserves to be in the top 25. Hey its a message board, I get it
