Mr. Ypsi

To be fair to olddog, unless I've forgotten a post somewhere, he has never claimed UR was better than LF (or Wheaton) this overall season.  He just wished they had drawn LF for the first round, thinking they had a better chance against them than against UMHB (which is hardly debatable).  I'll remain agnostic on whether or not they outplayed LF or Wheaton against UMHB, as I watched none of those games.  They all three lost to the national champs, so does it really matter?

Wow, message board poster (Ypsi) has a great memory and factual, props to him. So as a follow up when LF posters got upset for reasons I will never understand, since they got beat by MHB by 17 and 39...and were dominated for most the game. I threw out there UR played a more competitive game to prove my point. UR, Wheaton and LF were in tier far below MHB, but UR played the most competitive game against the MHB.

A 2 loss season with both of them being to the National Champion.
Just sayin'....

just a mere 56 points from being undefeated.

Kind of different than losing to a 5-5 team.

Pat,

The statement above validates reason stats do not mean much (time of year in the season) . A team week 0 compared to the first round of the playoffs can be much different, this is what D3.Com football missed. Pat you had CMS winning the SCIAC and UR dominated the game...Maynard improved in October, a sign of good coaching and adjusting. I have already told this board why UR was better this year, than in the past, but I will repeat it. The O line vastly improved as the season went on, this subtle improvement kept the field position tilted to UR most of the time. Along with what I think is the best conditioned team I have seen in 7+ years, they finished in the fourth quarter as opposed to last year. UR did all this despite loosing their starting 5th year senior QB week 1 and Week 6 starting tail back. No shame in the wins against PP and CLU....PP had a great game plan and threw a lot of new sets at UR and CLU is very talented team, rival etc (most in SCIAC)....one issue I cannot get my arms around is why CLU cannot win the tight ones, other than no kicking game.

Props to Olddog for generating some postseason banter when these boards normally go to sleep for 8 months. But having said that, this argument needs to be put to bed. All teams lost to UMHB, that's a fact and end of argument.

And needing to score 15 points (6 on a pretty legit 98 yard TD pass) in the 4th quarter to beat 4-5 Cal Lu.

Wow. I venture onto the FB boards after a few days away only to find out it's Groundhog Day on here.

I could not agree more, but the jabs keep coming...looking forward to next year. We have a chance to improve if we can fill a couple holes on the d line, a linebacker, and DB
