Things aren't trending in a good direction right now for the Tigers. Head Coach "retires" right before the season with a thinning roster.  Makes you wonder what their incoming class will look like.  Oxy struggled even with a stud at QB last year, cant see things going well for the residents of Eagle Rock in 2017.

Oxy gave up 50 points per game last season. Now they have a new coach, brought in at the very last minute on a wing and a prayer, who said, "The goal is for [the players] to develop great relationships that they can be proud of -- and along the way we're going to block and tackle, too." There's a high-powered pep talk for you. Like a Little League mom yelling after her kid strikes out, "Have fun out there!"

It's going to be ugly.

OxyBob
Perhaps the AD has been sitting in on this Oxy class in Stupidity.

1AA, UR, coming off a better play off performance that LF against the national champ.

0hhhhhhh....as in 0 playoff wins, 0 nine win seasons under Maynard, and 0 wins against Linfield.

I love it  WC, I will continue to say any win by a SCIAC team will be a miracle...There is no comparison between the SCIAC and LF program. No program is as committed to Football as LF...Throw in less expensive and easier to get into ....tough formula even for a good coach like Maynard.

Facts still remain, the Sporting News preseason number one team, was never really in the game and got spanked in the second round.
I guess you have an interesting definition of "facts" then.

Man... human beings never stop amazing me...Fact is LF got spanked...it happens even to the almighty LF

I'm looking to get the West Fan poll up and running again this year, and I have a few open spots available. Please send me a PM if you're interested in participating the season.

Thanks!

While I enjoy SCIAC and follow UR and Chapman, as a UMHB faithful I have to come to the defense of Linfield. Our first go round I would say was a shock to the players from the west, it was a hot, humid Texas evening which could have been a slap in the lungs to those players, not to remove the playing ability from my Cru, but let's be fair in our assessment.
To say Linfield got spanked the second round is not really a accurate definition, they were beat, not spanked. UR broke out to a quick 21 point lead over UMHB in the first, the Cru were very sluggish no doubt, but look at the box scores (and I was at the game) from the 3rd on, UMHB had the throttle wide open and caught and just ran away in the third and fourth going from 16 points to 50 points in two quarters racking up a 34 point run, UR only scoring 7 in that period.
The Linfield-UMHB game stayed close the first half 3-13 until the second half the game spread open a bit. but certainly not a stomp to finish a respectable 10 to 27. One thing we have learned over the years following the Cru, as we get closer to playoffs the game gets far tighter.
Bottom line, U of Redlands is a tough side and I would assess the bigger dog (not to pun the bulldog) in SCIAC, any time the Cru face them it is taken serious, and doubly so for Linfield. We will see shortly how Linfield reacts from last season as UMHB travels to the west and face them in September. Both are hosting new QBs, new kickers and some other positions. UMHB seems to be leaning towards TJ Josey who is just as explosive a QB as Blake Jackson if not more.

Before the madness begins I want to state what a loss dahlby (Richard Bly) was to these boards.
He was level-headed and gracious.

I never asked him how he became to be someone with keys to Chapman gates and athletic doors. Before a LINFIELD football game one year he gave me a tour of the facilities and then on the field where he introduced me to Coach Owens. After that it was to the top level of the stands to the President's Box and a buffet.

I went to an OXY basketball game one time (because OxyBob was part of the announcing team) and dahlby gave me a pass to all Chapman athletic events for the next year.

Chapman's loss, but mine too.

Crufan: l was at both LF games and l think your acessment is a fair one. That first game until the sun started to set over the home stands it was pretty much unbearable on visitor side of the field and did take a toll. Josey at his wideout position hurt LF and is a bit scary to hear he could be Jackson's replacement knowing what Jackson was able to do especially when he took off running and your acessment that TJ could be more explosive.... yikes. Cats have some key guys to replace starting at the QB spot same as the Cru. No doubt early big game for both programs. That early win by the Cru put the Cats on the road in Texas for the first two playoff games against two very good teams which proved to tough of a road for the Cats. Unfortunately an early loss by either program can make for a difficult situation playoff wise down the road....of course you have to get through rest of schedule to earn some playoff fun.

Thanks Cal, and yes a new season. new plans and schemes, new attitudes and a clean slate, I do expect to see UR and Linfield in post season play, where they go is going to be anybody's guess. one thing about the temps out here, you can train in it, it does not make it easier, you just know what to expect.
I hate to say this but it seems (from what I see and read from this state anyway) the only two, maybe three programs that really give a hang about the game on a serious level is UR. Chappie and Cal LU, ehhh and La Verne too, i'm not too intimate with La Verne but it seems to be a pretty put together group.
So here we go boys, another season is coming up Start stocking up on Adult snackables and grillables and have a great 2017 season

CruFan one step that would help if Linfield and UMHB were to want to continue home and home would be to schedule Belton game at night after sun has gone down and l would hope Linfield would make sure that happened. Before someone objects based on staying extra night in hotel l would point out they stayed last year and bused to DFW next morning to catch their flight to PDX. Belton one hot place in September when sun is up!

DFW, thanks for your post I get a kick out of people. I just want to point out (since this is a MB we can say if) if UR completes the double pass it is a 28-7 game. I think that misfire was the key to UR loss and any chance of a mega upset. MHB would have not been able to stay to their RPO play that just killed UR. UR did out play LF in the playoff (UR played harder than LF) , MHB had to come from behind in the second half to beat UR, against LF they just put the hammer down and pulled away.

Chaptown will likely stay where they are in the D3 world until coach Owens retires. He isn't the best or most tactical head coach, especially at his age, but he has earned the right to call it quits on his own terms. The program's success and assimilation into competitive SCIAC play can be directly attributed to him.
I am interested who would be in line to fill a Chapman head coach position should the roll become available. Guess we will know when that time comes.

My Chapman buddies (donors) tell me the potential for a division change is still 7 to 9 years away. If and When Chapman adds three to four thousand more students, then it will get heavy consideration. Owens will be long gone.

Oxy numbers way down, in the high 40's, only six O linemen. 8 or 9 d linemen. Its going to be real ugly.

I did notice, no frosh in roster yet, don't know how well they did in the off season, 10 or 15 newbies.
