This is a football board but in defense of Tigermania the women's lacrosse did finish .500 last year.

Harkening back to salad days of winning football seasons while sitting on cement at night trying to see the play into the corner of the far end zone I would like to thank OxyBob for introducing me to the (relatively) new AD and her wife.

Careful with the wine sipping olddog. LINFIELD offers a minor in Wine Studies.

DOC, I have no issue with sipping, in fact enjoy it from time to time. I love my visits to Oregon, once outside Portland.

My dry sense of humor kicking in,  after getting spanked by the Dogs,  it seemed more important to the Oxy parents to sip their wine and nibble on cheese...win or loose. It was like a big family picnic and they just played a softball game. Even better they set up right in front of the entrance to the UR's stadium in order to avoid being in the dirt parking lot with the Dogs....

Did Cushman bring anyone in to help coach at Oxy?
Welcome to the SCIAC board..

Apparently not.  It looks like some new hires are listed.

been reading for years, just laughing seemed better than typing...

Interesting dynamic at Oxy with a new guy a couple days before camp starts. How can those kids buy into what he's selling in two weeks. But what do I know UMMorris went from 0fer to a 500 team in two years.

I wonder if this culture change will impact any donors ? I have not doubt those kids hating on the National Anthem will be good for some huge donations down the road.

I do know that the current situation has had an impact on the annual donation my wife and I would give to the school.  The same is true for a number of alumi I know.  One of the reasons the AD hired Redell was she thought it would appease the alumi pissed at Widolff's firing.

I speculate that after Bill Redell heard about Doug Semones' "retirement" he took his phone off the hook as quickly as possible before he received another call from Oxy.

September 11 is just around the corner. I wonder what sort of vandalism and desecration the college is planning to do nothing about this year.

Oxy was in the news today. From today's Los Angeles Times:

Occidental now complies with federal crime reporting law, a new study concludes

Another proud moment!

There are nine coaches listed. Nine telephone numbers. Nine different area codes.

Nine games. Nine losses.

Wow now that is ...interesting. One of the coaches is 208 area code.. Boise Idaho...that is one very long commute. New York, Illinois....I hope for their players sake they get things together.

And here is an example of an OxyBob golden nugget that has been sorely missed around here.  You won't be officially back until you insult Redlands though. Lol

D O.C.

Perhaps it won't happen.
Unnamed sources have claimed to have seen OxyBob several times dressed only in a loincloth carrying a Little Orange Book while walking the shoulder of the freeway somewhere between Thousand Oaks and Eagle Rock self-flagellating while repeating phrases of self-criticism from the said book.

I will as soon as I come off the high of Oxy's last win over UR in 2009.

In addition to the new blood at Oxy, looks like CMS added a new running backs coach as well....

Probably a cell phone number that has traveled with him.

A few thoughts from the Chapman scrimmage this weekend against Golden West Community College.
Chapman's Offense will put up points - They moved the ball efficiently against Golden West's one's and looked ready for the regular season. This will be how Chapman wins games this year.
Chapman's Defense will stop the run - The Two DE for Chapman - OShea (6'0 250) and Pyka (5'11 280) are dense block eaters and will allow the LB's to fly around and make plays.
Chapman's Pass Defense will need to play up to their competition - The corners got beat often against the faster, most athletic Golden West WR's. If Chapman wants to put teams like CalLu and Redlands down they will need to improve on that aspect of the Defense immediately. Not sure who this new DB's coach is for Chapman (not Coach Harrison like years past) but he looks lost.

This will be an interesting year for the Panthers. They have talent but a ton of new faces. It will be interesting to see how they come out the gate vs the nation's best in Linfield.
Sept 9th can't come quick enough.

The scrimmage was at Chapman. The hitting and intensity in this scrimmage was different than others i have seen in the past. The GW kids showed up and Chapman laid a few good licks of their own. I also noticed the GW was very undisciplined having multiple pre-snap penalties.
Any news from any other teams scrimmaging this week?
