GA programs are a great opportunity for young coaches.  I went through a GA program at Oxy.  The program paid for my Masters.  They dropped the program a couple years after I completed it.  I don't know if it was ever reinstated.

Nothing on the Oxy job board for GA positions, but cook and cashier jobs in the Cooler are available.

They do have this guy working for the program

Being a progressive school they are way out in front of reducing head injuries by infusing flag football techniques?

According to new HC Rob Cushman, blocking and tackling are part of his overall philosophy:

"There's a lot of ways to measure success and they do turn on the scoreboard, but we want our guys to have a great experience on field, to grow, and to learn value of hard work and teamwork," Cushman said. "The goal is for them to develop great relationships that they can be proud of -- and along the way we're going to block and tackle, too."

I heard rumor the halftime Pep Talk was supplemented with juice boxes and orange slices.

I read this and know full well that Whittier better beat this Oxy team on the scoreboard...and it is not a given that they will.  Oxy can take whatever else they determine to be their "personal victories", but The Poets better win this one.

Oxy forfeits their game against Pacific this weekend.

The Oxy AD should resign.  This is 100% on her head.  What a freaking joke.

Her comments are the biggest load of BS I have ever heard.  The fact that your coach "retired" a few weeks before camp says a lot, but the fact that you tried to bring in what seems to be an entire new staff shows me a lot.  I don't know what the Alumni can do but I would be more than vocal about replacing her.  I have not heard one positive thing about Hoffman in the 7+ years she has been there.  She is flat out embarrassing the school and the athletics department.

Another question....does Oxy pay Pacific for all of the expenses that are now going to be wasted?

By popular demand I have returned. In truth Gray Fox begged and begged me to return, and he was becoming most irksome, so I relented. I don't know why I am here, since Oxy football has apparently reached its nadir.

What the hell is going on at Oxy?
I count 49 players on the roster, including 21 freshmen. Perhaps one of you who played can please explain how, with attrition by injury or otherwise, a team can make it through a 9-game season with only 49 players.

Make that a 1-game season.

Welcome back, OxyBob.  Sheesh.  What happened to Oxy?  From post-season regular to out of business in 10 years.  Is sport in general on a downturn at the school?
