Coach quits before camp, now do not have enough players even though 49 listed,  I call BS, I have seen Pomona show up with numbers in their 30's...

Isn't some of this dependent on the positions those players play? I mean, their roster only listed what, 7 offensive linemen. If the subsequent attrition and injuries hit the offensive line hard, then you simply might not have five guys you can play there...which then puts your QB and RBs at injury risk too.

My college team had a rash of injuries on the O line, lost a guy almost every game, by week 8 we started one game with 6 o linemen, I played defense and I was the first emergency back up linemen, ...Find a way, don't quit...honor your agreements ...Every LB, FB, D-line would have played O line versus calling it quits......I need to go to my safe space and snap chat

In the same vein, here's a picture of Doug Semones "retiring" as HC:

I surmise a surprise interview with the Oxy AD by d3football.com.

No mention of the game cancellation on any of the college's social media pages. Nothing on Facebook. Nothing on Twitter. @OxyFootball @Occidental @OxyAthletics all silent. Real classy.

After reading she is a Catholic grad, I wondered if Pat is familiar with Hoffman?

But it looks like she was only a student then.. no dice

It seems to me that they usually only report wins on any of their pages.  I follow baseball much more than anything and if they win a game, it is the front page headline.  If they lose, it is nowhere to be found on the front page, only on the teams individual page.  When Oxy was eliminated from the SCIAC Tourney possibility last year, they just didn't report anything on the games they lost.  That might be a little picky by me but I see it as them trying to keep any negativity from the spotlight and only report the positive things they want to hear.  The job of an SID or Sports Information Department is to report what is going on with the school athletics programs.  Again, maybe a little picky on my part but it just doesn't seem to be a favorable way of doing things.

Oxy's football fiasco was mentioned in The Oregonian:

Oxy Football @oxy_football finally posted on Twitter about cancelling the game at 11:09 a.m. this morning.

Administration is probably thinking.. "But they are good tryers" great way to scuttle your program people, undermine what your existing players think so they don't come back and have a disastrous recruiting line "Oxy, we play, until it gets tough" Just so sad, but hey, there are all kinds of great schools still playing great football guys, take a look, vote with the feet

Do you think the game happens in two week, OB?

At this point I don't know what's worse for Oxy, playing UR in two weeks or not playing UR in two weeks.

This week Redlands football = bye. Oxy football = bye-bye.
