man, it is very painful seeing the Poets program suffer year after year. Hopefully someday it can be respectable again.

I thought BJ Hammer did a good job there considering the circumstances.

I would agree. My son played two years under Hammer (2007 (4-5 record) and 2008 (1-8 record) also one year under Stratton in 2012 (4-5 record)  The glory years of four win seasons  haha

For the record, my son enjoyed his time at Whittier and made many life long friends there. There are some damn fine people over there.

BJ is in his first year at Allegheny College.  They have only won two games total in the last four years.

They have already won three games with only Oberlin to go.  They player Wabash tough, losing 41-48.
They have a roster of over ninety players.

that Wasbash game looked to be crazy. The previous four years I think the score was usually about 50-0 for Wabash. Thats BJ's alma mater so Im sure that was sweet for him to give the Little Giants a run. It wasnt decided until the final 50 seconds.

41 of the roster are freshmen.  I'm curious.  My cousin works in the admissions office there.

See Oxy.  You can win the Shoes back.

QuoteI can tell you Maynard will never back off.
Except for scheduling LINFIELD in the regular pre-conference.

He's actually in his second year, but your points are spot on. The program is improving quickly it seems.

I'm sure the prevailing thought was why schedule Linfield when you can really test yourself against UMHB.

True, who wouldn't want to lose a first round game on the plains of Texas rather than the lush Willamette Valley?

You are correct.  My memory fails me from time to time.

My point was that Redlands replaced Linfield with UMHB in non-conference play. Either way, scheduling two national top five programs was ambitious. Looking forward to the NWC-SCIAC scheduling partnership in the future, whenever is takes place.

The gray and maroon website does not go back  that far
2005 - Whitworth and Trinity
2006 – Trinity and Whitworth
2007 – Whitworth and Haskel Indian Nations
2008 – Dubuque and Whitworth
2009 – East Texas Baptist and Whitworth
2010 – Whitworth and East Texas Baptist
You DO like those plains of Texas!
2011 – North Central (!) and Whitworth
2012 – Pacific Lutheran and North Central
2013 – UMHB and Pacific Lutheran
2014 – Lo! And Behold! LINFIELD and UMHB
Now we're talking Strength of Schedule! (Umm, 3-36 & 0-36 BTW)
2015 – George Fox and LINFIELD!

(so sorry, 2 losses in the lush Willamette Valley)

2016 – Trinity and George Fox
2017 – George Fox and Trinity

May be it will happen in the next couple of years.

I doubt it, UR tries to play someone new every two years, with the SCIAC/NWC slotted game, I am sure Maynard would prefer someone other than a NW team.
Less than two more years of Gavin.

olddog

I heard UR was willing to play MHB but they passed on his and as you can know scheduled LF, same result.
Less than two more years of Gavin.
